:sheep:Hey,

Suppose you're making a map and you want a perfect installation program wich is easy to use and simple to modify. Does it excist?

Suppose you want to use more then 4mb texures in your map. Possible?

Suppose you want to 'include models' like some people do with wad's. Possible?

Does anybody know a good resource for custom mapmodels?

Does anybody know a good resource for custom ambiencesounds?

Are there ALL-IN tutorials for people who want to distrubute their own map? How to configure those installation programs? Where to put what? [I could find this out myself but it would sure save me a lot of time!]

Sometimes when you enter a pub you get a beautifull 'serverscreen'. Those screens usually tell the server rules or hold some kind of 'claninformation' [Sometimes they just look like a ordinairy .html page] Is it possible to have this kind of 'startup screen' in your own map? This would be utterly cool for the fact that you could add some historical pics of the city [for example] on wich your map is based.

That's it for tonight,

You can have more than 4Mb of textures:

-texdata #### in the csg line.

You cant include models in the bsp, but just include them in the zip.

I have a folder layout exactly the same as my dod folder, it has all the sub folders, maps, models, sprites etc and I just put my custom map installation stuff in the folder and zip the who shebang and rename.

Yeah, that's the way I did it but I hoped that there would be a program for it or so. Stupid thaught. :sheep:

Anyway, my overall knowledge isn't very good yet, butter beter know.

you can have up to 9mb of textures, i think.

winRAR (www.winrar.com) is a very good program for making install files (.exe)

and all someone would have to do is point the installer to the dod directory and all the models, texture and map files would go to the right place.

i dont think u can have models in the map file, like u can with textures.

NSIS (http://nsis.sourceforge.net/) is what i use for installers, it can be setup to auto detect the proper directory to install files.

NSIS is the daddy.

Try one of my map installs and then tell me what you think: http://www.mardymouse.co.uk.

I didn't use this tutorial, it might help but I think it's a bit old now:
