para_hedgrow restoration help wanted

hey guys iv been looking alover the place for dod_hedgrow but i found para_hedgrow but its only the bsp file and i dont know who made the para vertion:confused: but i would like to fix para_hedgrow and get it relesed so im wundering if any one would liek to help me do this if soo please add me to MSN ec_swede@hotmail.com

Yes that para_hedgerow was made by a very little known mapper. It's very difficult to find him. Apparently he used to go by the name 'Waldo'...not sure what he's called now.

I think he's given up Dod and mapping altogether actually.

Ginger Lord, of course he knows it ain't working. That's why he mentioned he wanted to "fix" it. And by fixing it, i'm sure he means changing entities. Removing faulty ones like info_doddect and removing the para gameplay.

He isn't a little known mapper, Kid-A! He's Tim Holtt. He's Waldo! Diffiuclt to find him? Given up DoD? What the heck? He's a DoD dev team member that loves the community a wee bit too much. He just posted in the forum not long ago.....Where have you been?

Okay, for editing the .bsps
Try using BSPEdit,. Of course, it would be better to just pester Waldo to remake the map, though he might probably just say, "Why bother? Might as well make it for DoD2 with better engine and all!". THe problem is: Even if you change the entities, what are you gonna do with spawn protection?

Waldo said he had any updated version anyway, the daytime one for starters. Whether or not hell get round to releasing it now. I don't think Hedgerow would work in normal dod play, especially the para version converted, spawn...camping...central.

Could use some entities for an env_model (Sherman/Tiger) and a func_tank/func_tank_mortar to guard the spawn. Ensure, they guard the entrance, ie. their cannon pointed at entrance.

Not sure about the positioning and angles? Try running the map in Bspview or HL cheat code to get the coordinates.

hey well cant u just put in the spwan protetion like there is in maps now? and i was tlaking about removing entries that dosnt work any more and some of the other propblums that are in it and i think it would be a very cool map to have in 1.3.

PS i dont know mutch about dodS so can some tell me if u will beable to guy it ort will it only be a hl mod for dl?

It could work very easily, actually.

Convert it to an assault map.

Make the objectives either the 2 flak guns OR an ammo dump (this would have to be added to the map). The ammo dump would take 2 hits to destroy.

I think this could be a lot of fun, but I doubt Waldo will be doing much w/ this map in the immediate future.

thats a good idea i liek the ammo dumps better then the flak gun and i was thinking of making the allies spown in a c47 and they have to jump out? and they land in a scatered area that desoves the spwan camping thing. and it would add alot of fun to the map.

Regarding para gameplay in 1.3, Yes it does work as I happen to have a copy of a few para maps including my own, and a para version of dod_ryan that works just fine in 1.3 steam

The old maps from 3.1 don't work because of cutscenes, and a bit of all kinds of entity problems, especially references to models, sounds, and sprites that either no longer exist in 1.3 or have been re-organized in the new directory structures and subsequently do not load.

However, I do have para_hedgerow's .bsp, and you can open it via BSPView to look around and see how it was made.

Im also more than happy to contribute any new textures needed for any new public release that ppl may be working on.

Can an official mapper make us a .res file so that we may aquire all the neccessary files in order to accurately reproduce the map?

All the Para maps I've tested in 1.3 don't work. Well they load and you play, but once everyone is dead they do not restart.
