German Wehrmacht are fiercely defending a key port town in France. The Allies need this port to bring vital supplies in, they have the town surrounded and decide to attack from the rear as a seaborne invasion would be too risky. They need to capture the Bridges over the canal, this will allow more troops to be brought up closer to the battle. Once captured they need to push into the town and destroy two King Tiger tanks defending the port entrance. A German 88 Flak cannon must be also captured. This will allow the dock to be captured for the Allies and the supplies can roll in for the post-invasion push into occupied France.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Allied Primary Objectives:
- Attack and capture both Bridges allowing advanced spawns
- Push into the town and destroy the 88 Flak and the two King Tiger tanks
guarding the port entrance with either a Bazooka or a Satchel Charge.

Axis Primary Objectives
- Defend the towns objectives for TEN minutes, these are:
a) Defend the Bridges
b) Once the bridge has been captured, fall back and defend the 88 Flak and
King Tiger tanks from attack.

Anyone curious as to where the first two betas went, they were private tests only, this is the first public beta test

Past the 88 going one way to the tanks (http://www.gingerlord.co.uk/images/maps/density_release4.jpg)

The Left King Tiger (http://www.gingerlord.co.uk/images/maps/density_release6.jpg)

Wpoly/Epoly are under 800/5000 for the majority of the map, in extreme places (corners of open areas) do they go past this. Also in the spectator shots it shows the scores as 0-0, this is wrong and only happens on my LAN games, it had like lag updating the scores.

Having got to test this map I can promise you all that its a hell of a lot of fun. I'm glad to finally see an assualt map featuring the Brits and they work well on it.

Once I'm home from work, I'll get a mirror sorted for you, GL.

Nice one Ginger-Minge!

BTW, did you use my trees with the falling leaves in it? Just curious because I've heard horror stories that they can lag up the server a bit and I'd be interested to see the results.

I dont want to hijack the thread or anything, but i used those trees in diversion with practically no complaints about them. (i think 2 people mentions a drop in fps around the area where i used them)

as for density, its big... thats for sure. I do love the textures though, very unique.

Nope, i switched them out for the lower poly pine trees (non explodable ones) to save on epoly and zip size, same for the other models like the updated king tigers, jagdpanthers and bicycles.

just like saints with the moving i would say willow trees? saints doesnt look as good with the pine trees but no i get 35 FPS instead of 20 :P i suppose those really high poly models are only good for hidden away corners and of course the source engine :> either way gingerlord this map is looking very nice

*tips hat*

Excellent work Ginger Lord, just fantastic all around!

Oh and like Random said, please release the .wad, the textures are very nice and would greatly help the mapping community. We'd really appreciate it.

Thx and GJ!

About the wad, Density uses the same wad as Arch, KominAaa and I decided on that after the Arch source files were lost that his textures had to get some use!

However, he has told me (a while ago though) that he did not want the textures publically released. When I see him next I shall ask again but don't count on anything.

thanks ginger lord, they really are great textures it would be a shame to let them go to waste, well thats wrong they arent going to waste on density but i rekon they would make a few maps look very sexy

Don't share the textures with the community. They will just become overused and you will get a bunch of density rip offs.

It's not hard to edit or make textures, just need to have the patience to learn.

Density Beta 4 Changes:

Text messages all changed to white to make them stand out more for the less observant among us.

Redone Small Bridge Exit

Added a ramp outside first axis spawn to make a more obvious end of section and better spawn protection, no camping with a nicked MG42 outside Axis spawn.

Opened up another room alongside Right King tiger, accesible by blowing wall, allows easier capture of tank pretty much direct from 88 without going on streets, more tactics needed for Axis.

Extended room at end of shortcut between routes, extra window allows better view over axis positions

Added a car crash to provide better cover on left hand route.

http://www.gingerlord.co.uk/images/changes.jpg

This shows off most of the above.

Any other ideas/comments?

hi
gj!
we just put this map on our server, we will be running it tonight sometime ;)

one minor point though.
when you use the resgen app to make your .res files, be sure to delete the .bsp reference, otherwise people will be downloading it twice.
