I remember back in the beta1/beta2 days there was a guy named zigzag or something that would post non-stop about getting a broomhandle, I wonder if he ever got his. This looks like a good model, I definately want a copy of it for my own.

I must request that you put the DoD hands on it instead of what you've got there if you plan on animating it.

The hands should stay!
The mauser comes with the one handed grip, it just looks crap!
It was a big weapon even had its own shoulder stock it has to be held with both hands!
Dont know where the mdl files come from, pm me an email address and i will send them to you.

check out the pic!!!

I animated a broomhandle awhile back. Think it was updated recently for the latest version, but you can use those anims if ya like.

Yeah the hands are freakin ugly. Someone can just reanimate it. Cause those hands are ugly.

It's a continuity issue more than anything else. I don't like having one set of hands when I'm using my primary and a different set when I switch to my pistol.

well, i dont know about you, but at the shooting range, there is a weird phenominon that happens to my skin when i use my pistols, my Glock makes my hands look spotted, like moles, my p32 makes my hands have biker gloves, and then when I use my AK, I have no sleaves on, my watch disapears, and my veins pop out.

but seriously, I want to see more models using the proper 2-hands for their pistols, none of them do, and they should, not the "Dirty Harry" grab your elbow stance, but where you wrap your left hand around the right hand and lay the thumb over your right thumb.

BTW - about the broomhandle using a butt, it wasn't because it was so massive that you needed it, it shot the same rounds the luger used, no butts on them. I am pretty sure it is the same 9mm rounds we use today, realy no need to the butt due to force of the round, rather to suport the gun for better shot accuracy. (Think of all the run arounds the gun makers had to do to keep Hitler from knowing they were making the STG, they called it the MP-44, Machine Pistol so he wouldn't throw a fit, hense the butt on a pistol I am guessing, they couldn't make anything other than Rifles and pistols)

PS:
I can slap a 10-minute job on there to be useable (arms and hand will be good, but fingers and minor "breathing" anims will need to be later)
If you want, let me know the URL for the ZIP/MDL or send it to me or something.

That's not a proper stance for WWII, at least not for GI's. The US Army taught a one-handed stance during that time period.

I'm pretty sure it used a different round the Luger, which also had a butstock available. Also, both the Luger and Broomhandle were around long before WW2. A machine pistol is basically an MP-40 or MP-5, it's an SMG. They just called it a pistol because it fired a pistol round. You are right about Hitler not wanting anything other than MG's, rifles, and SMG's, though. Though it turned out he loved the StG after all and even coined the term 'assault rifle' (Strumgewher in German).

Hey,
I've manage to get a hold of the broom handle, I converted it to have 1.3 arms and entirely animated.
The only problem i think is the sounds wont allign with the reload animation. I'll fix it later on. I was animating two guns at the same time, sorry if i got lazy :o

If there is no sound fixes by the time I caom back I will do them, try to anyway...
