Hi all, just a quick update to show the maps not dead. It should be released within a month if all goes to plan. Just need to fix the scoring (for some reason it stopped working in 1.3) and a few last playtests to get the bugs out!

German Wehrmacht are fiercely defending a key port town in France.
The Allies need this port to bring vital supplies in, they have the
town surrounded and decide to attack from the rear as a seaborne invasion would be too risky. They need to capture the Bridges over the canal, this will allow more troops to be brought up closer to the battle. Once captured they need to push into the town and destroy two King Tiger tanks defending the port entrance. A German 88 Flak cannon must be also captured. This will allow the dock to be captured for the Allies and the supplies can roll in for the post-invasion push into occupied France.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Allied Primary Objectives:
- Attack and capture both Bridges allowing advanced spawns
- Push into the town and destroy the 88 Flak and the two King Tiger tanks
guarding the port entrance with either a Bazooka or a Satchel Charge.

Axis Primary Objectives
- Defend the towns objectives for TEN minutes, these are:
a) Defend the Bridges
b) Once the bridge has been captured, fall back and defend the 88 Flak and
King Tiger tanks from attack.

It looks amazing if not a little dreary IMO.

Excellent work, I couldn't find a thing I didn't like. Beautiful map.

the crates look a little big, but they are like that in lots of maps.. other than that it looks a little bland (as in pretty grey) - but that also makes up the atmosphere of the place, so its fine. good map! can't wait to run through it.

Gameplay on a team-oriented server is really fun on this puppy. It has a combination of close-in and far away fighting...you have to be tactical and you have to use teamwork to win. It's really a nice map and it'll be fun to see it in rotation on my favorite servers soon.

Great pics - the map looks very nice and I'm really looking forward to checking it out! If the other FD (as opposed to me) says it good, it's gotta be ... :)

The guys at CoJ testing it pretty much liked it...we had four or five really long playtests and as long as you use teamwork it's a lot of fun. It is a REALLY big map with lots of walking on the second phase of the map (first combat phase is tight, close fighting where only one or two people can make a big difference...the second phase is more open and takes more teamwork to win).

I think gameplay enhances greatly once you get a good 6-10 players a side. Phase two is kinda a huge downward sprint for the allies while the axis setup a defense. The elevation change in this map is probably the largest downhill I've seen...take either downhill run in switch and multiply the distance by four and add in two routes...not just one...and you've got it...but despite the distance I never felt it was too far to walk for some reason. Great map.

Update: I'm now uploading the release candidate (posh word) to be sent to the testing teams, 9Mb on 56k upload = no fun.

I have added rain now as a trial if it affects FPS/lag drastically it will be removed again. I had it in an earlier version but it was quite choppy and slow and prone to crashing so I removed it. Scoring now works properly. Brits get 10 points per objective plus 50 for winning. Axis get 5 points per minute they hold and 50 for holding all 10 mins. Its interesting.

Thats sounds cool. So only a couple of teams get to test it?

Playtest News:

CoJ.Spies.com Playtest Thursday 15th July 8:30 PST
This is generally for folks in the US, but late night Euro vampires can join too
Thread Linkage (http://www.spies.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=13603)

DoDmaps.com Playtest Friday 16th July 7pm GMT
A much better time for Euro players.
Thread Linkage (http://dodmaps.ngz-network.de/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=295&sid=)

I would appreciate if as many people as possible joined these tests, it would help release the map quicker, anyone found leaking the map (tut tut) will be in deep poo, the community will hate you and you will spreading a possibly flawed product. Be patient and wait for the final version, its not far away,

Ok so... Will the map be up for download at that time or will I have to join those guy's server to test it?

Playtest was fun, took awhile to get used to the big layout and changing spawns but worth it.

Great looking and fun to play, could go official.

I didn't get to play it... :(

You had two chances to test it, at least one would have been easily attendable no matter where in the world you are. You didn't put your name down in either of the threads, so really you have only yourself to blame

The tests went very well, we have found some small bugs and got some new ideas to test

The scores throughout the DoDmaps.com Test (http://www.gingerlord.co.uk/images/scores.jpg)

As you can see it ended up pretty balanced no matter what size team, it ended 700-670 after 180 minutes of play.

One thing I noticed was it got to be boring as axis after awhile. Someone suggested perhaps switching sides.

Thats one thing I'd love to do but the entity count at the moment stands at 609.

To swap the spawns would require another 64 spawn points, plus all the scoring entities would need to be changed over and have triggers and relays etc. Its just too much work and too much of a strain on the already stretched engine.
