u mean the front handle? looked good on the mesh not in the model, too many shears i think. and im no good with lighting yet so the metal sucks :/ ne ways to make it less cartoony?

The only way to become good at something,is to try it..and keep trying it.

i can tell you now, from me being a modeler for alot f games/mods
your skin is not that bad, youv got the basics down..now all you have to do is hone your skills on what you want to do.
for intance, some skiners are GREAT with wood, while others are great with metal.
i would sudgest you start off with working with metal first
"lets face it more guns are metal than wood"
then move on to wood

when your happy with how you mke wood, put the two skils togethers
and skin like a madman.
this is not a day and night operation.

but with some time, and care..youll b skining in no time.

hahaha!!! :p :p :p (im allowed to laugh, im his brother, its my job)

thats appauling, but i cannot do much better. i spose its a nt for your first skin. but on the front handle, i really would get the lighting sorted! :O oyu have highlights on the bottom? light normally comes from the top of a gun like that.

best thing I did for my self was look at how other models are skinned, look at how they treated the lightsources, made scratches etc.

oh, and I dont know if its just the angle, but the butt stock loooks way too small, prolly just the angle, but I thought you might just want to look into it.

Foist, if u want to get better, keep at it....

Ive uploaded a brush set here which is a compilation of mixed scratch brushes etc. These are esential for making a good skin if u ask me
http://brutal.shatteredvision.co.uk/photoshopbrushes1.rar

experiment with these. look closely at metal and wood, how they have blotches ad scratches etc. study the lightsource. A good site with plenty of nice close up pics is www.exordinanza.net It's not in english but u dont really need that heh.

You can also use photos of wood as your base and work from that.

to improve lighting and shadows etc or anything else u want to look at. A great page is

As Malarky already stated.

Hope I've helped:)

cheers.
