I have started working on a map called dod_blumpkin. It's for BOW custom map server. It's mostly imaginary but I have a few good ideas. Any comments would be appreciated.

I play on the server every now and then. What exactly is the aim/setting/style of this map?

Well it's going to be a dusk type setting with some realistic lighting effects. Likely a flag capture, but I haven't really decided yet. This is my first map so I am still learning the tricks, Hammer can be a fussy piece of s#@t at times but it's not too bad overall. Yes, I don't have many screens I kind of just started, but I will post more as they come available.

what you got so far looks ok. i would suggest trying to make thigns a little more... exciting because a lot of things are very squareish at the moment.

Yes, I agree. I am trying to get the basic map kind of layed out first. I find sometimes depending how you clip, vertex things it sometimes gives errors on compiling, then when you repair the error it changes the look of the brush. Like I siad this is my first map so it's learn as I go.

Make sure you only have triangular brushes when you're using vertex manipulation or else you're warping the brush and causing those problems. You can use other shapes to be manipulated but until you truly understand what you're doing to the brush by using that tool then stick with triangles.
