my guess is that they are from pre-retail1.2 models. This happened from back in beta 1.2 to beta 1.3, I am not positive, but try looking at the date the models were uploaded to where ever you got them (or look at the date modified, sometimes it will say when they were made) if they were before june `04 chances are that is the problem.

What you do, is decompile a 1.2 model also.
then open that models bones..delet the model itself but leave the bones "1.2 bones", then save that in milkshape as something like 1.2bones.
then open your "messed up out dated model" and merge the new bones in with the old model, and it will overwright the bones
no reassinging needed
then save that model for whatever bodypart you just did
so like light body, light gear, head1
so on and so forth
then just export the file in there format and save
then compile
and move the updated .mdl's to your dod dir.
and have fun.

karma, next week is my finals, and after that a month of wasting time...

I will be trying to get BASIC BASIC BASIC modeling in some time then, before my milkshape runs out. I will be asking you for some pointers...

Not really a tutorial but it explains some of the basics and what the correct terms are for certain things. Helps a bit making yourself understood when asking for help.
