Danzarised Caen

Following up from Danza's thread where he replaced texturing on Avalanche, though I would give it a go with Caen....

So, here we are: Caen, with snow, at night time!

I massively reduced the lighting in the map, as well as replaced textures with ones from Zalec and Kalt. Finally, I replaced the sky with a nice night one :)

how can you change the lightning in a map without decompiling?

i like the idea of darkness, night maps - makes it more difficult :) - more about "thinking" than aim and shooting at the enemy....

anyway, slightly lighter:

i used a program by botman, its called "darkulator"

Very useful :D

Nah that screenshot doesnt show much snow, I was focusing more on the light showing people how its possible to change the sky and light level of a map. By doing this the whole atmosphere can change and the map becomes something totally different!

There is no point in posting a screenshot of your re-texturing if your gonna make it that dark. My brightness is max on my monitor and could only make out a couple bricks of the buildings.

Yeah, still way too dark, axis would have a huge advantage with their darker clothing, make it even lighter.

I like the last pic the best, the earlier pics looked like they had brown/yellow lighting and didn't compliment the snow much. You should also get the winter version of those sandbags, it's odd how everything else has snow on it exept them. These "winter conversions" are an interesting thing to see.

El Capitan, would you be so kind as to tell me where I can find this "Darkulator"? Editing stock maps is quite fun. I have done alot of that with MOHAA.

Thankyou sir.

edit : Nevermind, I found it.

Can you use a map with changed lighting and textures and play with someone using the original, like flash2 and its textures?
