WTF happened to all of these? and where has glimmy gone all of a sudden? i used to have another username on these forums but i cant remember it, i made some high poly shells one time, and some sprites with Cpt. higgins i think... cant remember... stoned off my arse... i really miss them, and i cant wait to start owning with an IS tommy gun.... mmmmn.

anyway thanks for any help.

good luck using an iron sight bren gun....

Dirty Sanchez
05-09-2003, 01:17 PM
why the sights on a bren gun are to the side of the clip, it just has to be re-origined so the view is thru the sights on the side, unless the dod team screwed the model ups and the sights arent actually in line with each other...

Doug the Head
05-09-2003, 01:19 PM
Oh, it's very possible, but not practical. The magazine would block half the screen.

Dirty Sanchez
05-09-2003, 01:26 PM
i see what you mean, but the clip could always be moved backwards or to the side a little bit... dunno, that was the gun i was most looking forward to using...

not really ironsight, but if your desperate type cl_bobcycle "0", cl_bobcycle "1" puts it back to normal

Dirty Sanchez
05-09-2003, 02:12 PM
what does this do exactly?

05-09-2003, 02:17 PM
i take it thats the gun bob for when running etc?

actaully i've never noticed any gun/view bob in DOD... maybe i'm just used to it?

Dirty Sanchez
05-09-2003, 02:36 PM
yeah i just tried it its pretty damn good, alas not iron sight... it basically centers the weapon and brings it up a bit, the tommy looks sweet, but the gun is frozen solid. personally i can play so much better with tru iron sight crosshairs, using them only, i remove the default crosshair.

05-09-2003, 02:54 PM
What if the guns were origined, so that when you typed in cl_bobcycle 0 it would REALLY ironsite them. That way, you could bind a button to mouse2 that would do that so you could have true raising and lowering of ironsights. Instead of the scripts that went out that just used r_drawviewmodel.

Dirty Sanchez
05-09-2003, 03:00 PM
damn that is a very good idea, but i know **** about origins, or modeling full stop. find sum1 who can, and ill be a very happy man.

Im still alive (kindov ! )

I already replied to a post about Iron Sights.

The DoD Team have changed the way X-Hairs are displayed. It is now not possible for me to select individual weapons to remove X-Hairs

Its all or nothing.....

So I would have to release a complete pak for ALL weapons !!

Dunno why they changed it.....

Sorry people :(

Dirty Sanchez

ahhh you do still live... well, im not to fussed really about the x-hairs, although tey do kinda get annoying after awhile... nevmind, not all is lost.

Here's what an IS Bren might look like. Pic taken in Milkshape.

oooh, meh is dribbehlin. i would kick so much ass with that. althouth there would be them ugleh crosshairs.

05-09-2003, 04:00 PM
that looks good.. only it takes about 60% of the screen:(

lol you probably wouldnt be able to see enemies coming from the right side for the whole time it was up lol!!!

05-09-2003, 05:53 PM
oh m god i LOVE it!!! :D, as i only use the british weapons and i rarely use the enfield sniper and rarely use the STEN, id happily lose ALL crosshairs.

05-09-2003, 07:01 PM
I might try origining the Bren so that cl_bobcycle 0 would put it in actual IS mode, but I might not be able to get on my computer for a little while, this week might be busy for me.

just thought id let you know, there ARE some iron sight models that someone made and i have been testing them, its alot harder to use and the animations need a little work. but once ive talked with who made them ill see if he'll release em or if he needs me too ill release them for him, so far only webley/enfield and sten :)

Thanks for all the replies guys. DWW, i dont find iron sight models hard to use at all, and bittles is on to somin with the bobcycle thing. at the moment the FG42 bipod already has ironsights if you put it in cl_bobcycle 0. ill post some screenies later. so if we could origin all the other guns, similar to that of the FG42, we would have some cool IS models. ill post some screenies later, but i just got up so give me time...

Ive just re-animated the Garand (standard view) cos I didnt like the new anims on this weapon in v_1.0

I really enjoyed getting back into the anims again and will no doubt sped my free time in creating a complete IS pak for all who want it :)

W007! GO GLIMMY! i knew your love for animating would never die. thanks for answering my questions and thinking about my suggestion.

P.S. if sum1 could try and remember my username from the old DOD MSA forums.. tell me i cant remember. higgins might know. i did sum sprites with him a while back..

i suggest you make a new thread for this as a question to the dev team : see what they think :)

and at glim : can you make it so with bobcyle off they are perfectly ironsighted, but with it on its a normal gun level please? the ultimate versitle gun :) ; and while you at it cut off some polys >D we need all the fps we can in the new dod

Dirty Sanchez
05-10-2003, 09:05 AM
no no no. dont cut off polys, the only real maps that lag are donner, and the the snow ones sumtimes. just type

cl_particlefx 0 - gets rid of all particle effects
cl_particlefx 1 - keeps muzzle flashes and slposions :D but no rain
cl_particlefx 2 - all particle effects

EDIT - ill post a question in the suggestion thread.

05-10-2003, 09:17 AM
particlefx means dick :(

its all these new 512x512 player models. before all but para models were using really low res ones, say 64x128.

Dirty Sanchez

no one seems to be answering on the Suggestion forum.

well 35 repliesand 657 view cant be bad, lets hoper the dod dev team notice.

05-10-2003, 11:55 AM
what is the cl_bobcycle thing?

05-10-2003, 12:02 PM
go in game
cl_bobcycle 1
walk forward. notice the gun sway.
now try cl_bobcycle 0.3
notice the gun sway
cl_bobcycle 0 centres the gun and has no sway : this freaks me out (the none swaing thing) and feels too much like quake :(

The no sway could be fixed by the DoD team, right?

P.S.: Sanchez, your sig. makes me hide under my blankie.

Dirty Sanchez
05-10-2003, 12:17 PM
you could put the cl_bobcycle 0 into the autoexec.cfg file in ur dod base directory, or type bind X "cl_bobcycle 0" in the console to bind a key to it. dev, my sig tells everybody the real meaning behind my name. and the thread in the suggestion forum was close by robert. damn him... damn him to hell....

Never, EVER, bump threads this old. We can't do it because we can either take out all the crosshairs or none, there's no inbetween until we get back our individual models and custom crosshairs in 1.1

... alright. Shoot me.

Was that f'ing neccessary? No. Like this isn't: Go die assclown.

How the hell should I know that this forum isn't particularly high on old threads being 'bumped'?! I don't post here enough to know that, and I only come to this place to find out if there are any updates around here.

*******s like you drive others away from forums. And I'm sad that this place has people like you here.

The LEAST you could have done was repeat what ben said and been helpful and informative, instead of being... ugh.

2ltben
08-17-2003, 10:06 PM
Because on every single forum on the internet will hang you for bumping really old threads, because they're old and no one who participated cares about the topic anymore. As for ironsights, Glimsharp himself said that it wasn't possible.

Joe.Mysterio
08-17-2003, 10:14 PM
Ah's, I see. Alright, thanks.

And by the who, I use other forums - IGN to be exact. Most don't mind them being bumped up if they were fun, old threads... past helpful ones... or faded away onto other pages without really being "finished". Like this one, maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I didn't find out anything more about the IS. And this one seemed like it was one that faded away, as well.

To quote Glimsharp, "I really enjoyed getting back into the anims again and will no doubt sped my free time in creating a complete IS pak for all who want it". It is possible, but only as a complete pack. Yes it is a 3 month old thread, but if he posted a new thread the usual suspects with nothing better to do would probably have a go at him then too.
