this picture isn't about the guns. Look at the picture of the guy holding them..look at his helmet, he has the insignia of the 3rd infantry division. Can anyone tell me how to do this? (any other division is fine, too)

Open the player model you want to add the unit insignia to in HL model viewer. Export the helmet texture, add the insignia on in any picture editing program. (ms paint for the desperate or poor.) After you've edited the texture, import it over the old one and save the model. If you don't have the model you want to edit, use the GCFScape extractor to pull out the player model you want to edit.

I don't know off the top of my head where you can download the GCF extractor, do a search of the MSA boards.

the quick answer:
(back up your $#!+ first)
1) get jed's HLMV (http://www.wunderboy.org/3d_games/utils/hlmv.php) (Any HLMV will do, but Jed's kicks ischium)
2) open the MDL of the model you want to edit in the HLMV
3) click on the "textures" tab (below the picture)
4) pull the DropDownMenu down to the BMP you are looking for (helmet.bmp or something like that) then hit the "Export Texture" button
5) edit the BMP in an editor like Gimp or PhotoShop
6) save the BMP as Indexed (must be <= 256 colors ! ! !)
7) go back to the HLMV (make sure you are still in the "textures" tab and the DropDownMenu still says <helmet.bmp or something like that> )
8) press the "Import Texture" button
9) look at it and wonder why it didn't work, then read through this until you find your mistake

for a more detailed tutorial do a search in here, I know someone has done one.

don't forget the .NET file from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=262d25e3-f589-4842-8157-034d1e7cf3a3&displaylang=en) to use it.
Another way is to look on the MSA forums for other MDLs that have already been edited and use theirs to start with.

And remember the motto of the MSA forums:
DON'T FORGET TO BACK YOUR STUFF UP ! !!

You'll make it for me? Gee thanks man I appreciate that. Can you put rank shoulder patches for me like Pfc., Corporal, Sergeant...and then Lieutenant and Captain and Major on the front of the helmet? That would be great thanks man i really appreciate this.

It's not as simple as that. To put individual insignias on specific classes, you need to add the insignia as a model to a certain gear or body submodel that class uses. There are 3 helmet BMP's total. Putting a private chevron on to just one helmet would have like the Rifleman, S. Seargent, and Seargent all have that one chevron. (Or something like that)

Correct, three helms and two body bmp's, want one or two patchs on the arm and one to three patchs on the helms, ok no problem, understand one body uses the same texture for both sleeves, so what ever you want there make sure it is the same forward and backward or not, you may not mind it, let me know something

OK,look at it this way for all the classes, MG , sniper, Garand, tommy, bar etc... There are only three different helmets and two different uniforms, the gear they wear changes depending on class, MG has Bullets around neck etc.. One of those uniforms only has one sleeve so it uses that one texture for both sleeves, so whatever you put there is reversed on the other arm. One has two sleeves so you can put two different patchs on it, get It???

Ahhh, my good ol' 3rd ID skins.

I made those during 4.0 beta testing. Before all of this "v1.0" stuff.
