I get this error during the csg process right after its done all the wads. The wierd thing is I compile Babis using the same wads and I don't get this problem.. I only recieve the file read error on slav. Any clue what to do to fix it?

Hm, it may be because of deeper folders of last two WADs used or using folders with spaces in names.

maybe, don't think so though, cuz I have another map with the same wads and that one compiles fine.. its really annoying though.. any way, guess I'll just keep changing stuff in the map and maybe it'll work itself out.

I'm having the same problem now too...and it also only occurs on one map that I am working on(I use the same wad for all my maps). I tried compiling all textures into one wad, and I tried re-mipping the textures...in fact, my compile log now looks like this:

Also as you can see I have no spaces in the folder path for my wad as some people suggested might be the problem. :( I guess this map is scrapped, since no one seems to have a sure answer as to why this happens.

You might wanna try using less textures in your wad, 2000 something is a bit much.

haircut
11-12-2004, 07:16 AM
yea .. I can only think it's the total number of textures causing this problem.

Not the total textures used in your map but the total read from the number of wads used.

Taien

Awh, really? That totally sucks. I like having all the textures available loaded into Hammer...its much easier to find something nice that fits with the level. I'll try moving all the textures I'm currently using into their own wad though and see what happens....it just sucks that I wont be able to use hammer to choose textures anymore :(

And for the record...I think its kind of silly that the program has this kind of error if that really is the case. :p You'd think it would be engineered to be able to handle whatever.

Taien
11-12-2004, 10:08 AM
Actually, wait....that's not it either, because I use this same wad with all my maps and this is the only one that has an error. Could it be that some texture I'm using in this map only is bugged or something?

Well, I am a bit tired of posting this adice for 4937th time. There is option in compiler for creating external WAD.CFG file (-wadconfig). Look into compiler docs, there are samples also.
You can also try to put WAD files, your map and compiler on the same drive as DoD. You might notice that map file doesn't store drive letters in paths.
