A *real* man would edit the lightmaps in the BSP so it really is a night map ;)

Will you ask my wife if I can have my balls back? I'm too scared.:(

BTW what do you open the bsp w/ to read it?

Well there are various tools but if you look at the spec for BSP maps you'll see its split into sections so lightmaps are somewhere in the middle. I had a tool a while ago for converting lightmaps to bitmaps and vice versa. Cant remember where the heck I put it though.

Nice work on the skybox, but I agree, there needs to be nighttime lighting. Perhaps you could cheat the system by editing the wall textures ect, to look dark enough so the shadows don't show well...

I know. When you log onto a sever, it reads your bsp file (which controls the lighting). If your bsp and the server's bsp differ, you cant play at that server. The only way to play w/ the bsp lighting turned down is to start your own game/server. All I'm providing is a different sky/background scenery. You can take Jed's bsp (that he kindly editied for us) and share it w/ your friends. Then start a game and let them join.

Good job man. I love it. Send that to the DOD staff and see if they will distribute it as an actual map. We need to have night time maps of each one. Makes it more realisitc. Or some real time as in the maps go from morning to dark after a certain amount of time. That would be great.

Let me clear some of the crud off my to-do list and I'll sort out some instructions for altering the lighting in the BSP.

But yes, as stated both client and server need the same BSP file - hower when the map starts, the server sends all the entity data to all the clients. Its deemed to be "authoritive" and its because of this that plugins like Stripper2 can be used to alter entities and the like.
