You want the german word for test? Or did i misunderstand you?

Anyway, the german word for test is Test.

@topic: Looks nice.

According to the "Free" Translator

Prüfung! Prüfung! Prüfung!

Argh, it's offtopic.

If you mean the german translation for write-test or drive-test, then it would be Prüfung.

But if you ie want to test if the download works, it would be Test.

Any reason for those spikes on top of that fence?

It also all looks very similar building wise, and the roofs are a bit steep.

Other than that, looking good for what is shown.

I edited Blaz's awesome texture and added a orangi'sh color to window texture. Then i just added regular light entity next to window so it lits it up nicely.

Thanks all :)

ok I don't care what everybody else thinks and everybody else probably doesn't care what I think but those screenshots bore me.

Sure, the buildings look nice, the scale is spot on etc etc etc... but it doesn't look like a town to me, let alone a town in World War II. The streets look empty and uninspired. The rounded corners and the ups and downs are a nice touch but don't really make up for the 'dead' feeling the map has. One thing that bugs me a lot is the very repetitive texture usage. Every building uses the same texture, additionally and equally annoying is the fact that almost every building looks the same in terms of architecture, like you simply went and cloned them. The whole thing just doesn't feel right IMO... I think one reason is the way you built the streets. It feels like they are just there for the sake of being streets, for the sake of fulfilling the purpose of leading players from point A to point B. I mean yeah that's what a street does but it just feels so thoughtlessly done. Like an arena surrounded by clones of houses....without a breath of life... I'm sure there's better ways to word this but I suck so I'll leave it to others to maybe expand on this hoping to make this map feel a little less retort.

sorry, but I gotta agree with klein on this one.

It does look very bland and boring. There's just something not there, ya know?

It's just texture lighting, not an entity.

As for the map, I really like where the atmosphere could go, although I think that spikey fence seems a bit overkill.

No. It's light entity. Im tweaking some texture based lights as we speak tho.

Thanks for the comments all. I really appreciate.

I on the other hand, unlike the robot clones here disagree. I think the streets are fine, not every map needs to fill their streets with rubble and vehicles. The textures are very repetitive, and makes the houses look the same. Although they are different architecture wise. What else are streets for? From what I remember, streets were made to lead people from point A to point B.

Ginger Lord

Yes streets do lead people from A to B, but good maps make that not blatently obvious by adding stuff in them to distract you. At the moment it looks like a hurricane went through the town and blew everything but the buildings away. Perhaps some of Jeds Kubelwagens, a DUKW, some dragons teeth and overhead wires would take away the empty feel.

Maps in their infancy don't need all that model garbage...in some cases all those models do is mask a maps shortcomings. Most DoD players like small, tight, urban maps and skdr really knows how to make them that way. I like his use of the vertical component, I like the archictecture and at this early point in the process could care a twit about textures, lighting, etc...gameplay, gameplay, gameplay is the only thing important at the top end...after the gameplay irons out you add in all the gooddies. As indicated by skdr's success w/northbound I get the feeling this will be a nice complimentary map to that one. You know where to go for testing support dude.
