I worked on this a long time ago, back when www.dodmaps.com had the cr44 mapping contest going on. Unfortunately I didnt make the deadline, but I just remembered about the map recently and I may release it. What do you think?

it looks okay, reminds me of de_inferno for some reason, but do we need another version of this map? How about making a whack of changes and call it something like dod_carnage :)

see thats the thing. This has been done since the day after of the dodmaps contest. I really dont want to put too much work into it, since ofcourse saints is going official. There is no harm in releasing it so i might aswell, right?

I like, but i find the light a bit yellow.

The lighting is too washed out, some frames of some sort are needed for the windows and doors. Some of the textures are either scaled too large or just don't quite fit with the theme, but with a little work it could look very nice. I think the shadows need to be a bit more defined, and a yellow diffuse doesn't look very pretty. Try a different sky/light combo or mess around with the values a bit more.

Imagine that. Saints going official but yet losing to a better version. Somehow I think that one is pretty rigged.

Carnage, it looks pretty cool to me, I don't really care about the "yellowish" color people mentioned, it doesn't bother me. I think you should release it, I will download it, but could you include waypoints with it for the bots? Then i would dl it for sure. Thanks!

well, i dont want to change the lighting. I guess these ppl are expecting the usual and uncommon brownish dod lighting with super dark shadows. Ive had a few messages to me to release so ill release on the weekend once i just change a few things.

It doesn't have to have brownish shadows or dark shadows. It's just that extreme colours of diffuse look really odd, unless you've got a crazy purple/pink sunset then generally brighter solid coloured diffuses are out of place.

It's also better to dictate your own releases not necessarily by demand. Get some friends and test it internally or else you may find there are troubles with jumping to release it without really having a go-through yourself. Granted with the CR44 deal you might be fine, but in principle it's best to test.

I have to disagree with the majority of the previous posts about the lighting

I like it a lot - it goes with the over-cast sky. My reasoning for this comes from living in the mid-south USA - it looks like one of those crazy summer rainless lightning storms is about to burst all over - the air is charged, the light has a strange yellow cast to it, and the tension in the air could be cut with a knife...then

boom

yellow, green, pink, purple, and white lightning all over the countryside

it lends something "different" to the normal diffuse settings

lol except from the fact that this lighting doesnt work with the sky map :P

its a prety nice setting just not for the jagd sky :)

@Ir you are wrong.
Some ppl my like "youre" sky with that lightning.
So why not lat him make his own style like he love it and give it up to other.
See for me is it like with youre maps the look allways the same to me from the textures.

@Topic
I like it, bud the map is like a ***** for sale, to mutch uset.

just because i say that the lighting doesnt work with that sky means he isnt allowed to keep it that way :/ i didnt see me say CARNAGE YOU MUST CHANGE IT NOW

i just gave my opinion

he can do with that whatever he wants

CR44 is now the Linux of DoD maps, everyone's made their own.

so what? there is nothing wrong with that? If u dont like a map, u shouldnt really ***** about it b/c nobody is forcing u to play it.

That you need to chill out with getting defensive when someone makes a completely neutral and humorous statement.
