Almost done, but I wanted to post a picture so I could get feedback.

eh, I didn't think the regular army had SS runes on their helmets  Looks ok, though I think a shot of the whole body would give people a better idea what it's gonna look like.

Faces look a bit scratchy but nice.

Scratchy...I don't see how you can even compare them to the default faces. I do see what your saying if you mean 'too sharp', so I fixed the faces up and replaced 2 (2 didn't really seem to fit in well with the rest), I think they look better now.

Here is a new image so you can get a better idea of what they look like: Click (http://www.lagcs.com/heer.jpg)

OMFG, NICE.

Just somehow make the Stosstruppen, MGer, and Scharfshuetze more unique and you've got a pretty damn solid pack. I like the hates on the Unteroffizier and Sturmtruppen.

Maybe for the Stosstruppen and MG, you should roll up the sleeves a bit like the default Stosstruppen model. And the sniper should definetely look unique apart from the other models. If you're not gonna stick on a Camo skin for the sniper, maybe you should come up with something in his gear or hat that will make him distinct from other player models.

Very nice work m8.

How about this hat from the Grenedier in the 16th SS Panzergrendiers Pack by Your Employee? I think it would fit the sniper well.

Not sure where you can find the model pack though, so you're on your own. I think Editor321 has the link for that model pack I converted to 1.1. Yeah, it's there. Here is the link to download them, though you need to register with Fileplanet first. (http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/planethalflife/Editor321/16thss.zip)

Beautiful, i'd just recommend to add more color into those, soldiers weren't black and white :-)
Check some reference, imo it's very intresting to learn through the work, when i made my SS pack i learned so much more than i knew about the ss and in general about the german army but more than anything else it really helps creating the correct look which will always be nicer too.

btw like Otacon said their helmets had no SS runes.

looks very good , but the wehrmacht wore no eagles on their left arm only on the breast , btw what happened to your SS Model ?

ps :maybe u can give them different collartabs and shoulderboards - they should fit to their armpatches

pps : something is wrong with this forum

I also wanna add that the eagle you used is an SS eagle (not just the one on the helmet of course but also the ones of their cloths) and also like volk said the heer had the eagle sign only on their chest.

Okay I'm being bombarded and overwhelmed with people who all think they *KNOW* exactly what the heer (not wehrmacht) wore, until you start showing me REFERENCES instead of just what could easily be your opinion, I'm not going to make changes like your suggesting...it seems like everyone is just trying to have me make it the way they want it.

http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Heer/photos/H52250.html - The eagle looks right.

http://www.german-helmets.com/HEER%20Decal%20Types.htm - This is my source on what decal (single decal) the heer had. Whoever said I had the wrong decal on the helmet (btw you didn't see this in the picture, the SS decal on the right is gone and now there is no decal tehre because there wasn't during the war, now just remains the nazi eagle shield which was the onyl decal on the heer helmet.) it's all corrected now. If you still dispute this show me your resource.

"Apart from the steel helmet, officers had three types of headgear to choose from; they seem to have been worn indiscriminately in the front lines. The most common was the sidecap, similar in cut to the enlisted men’s, but with silver piping round the edge of the crown and along the edge of the cut-out "scoop" in front of the turn-up section." - http://www.angelfire.com/sk2/germanuniforms/wehrmacht39_42.html

Okay this means I will put that 'sidecap' on the sniper.

Also according to my very intelligible friend Handy's advice on the real heer, I may replace the peaked cap on the Unteroffizier with the 'crushed' cap which apparently field officers who were once NCO's wore.

Once you show me your references I wil make the changes you wish.

what do u understand under Heer ?
u said " Heer not Wehrmacht "

Felix
05-06-2004, 11:11 AM
Not exactly sure what you mean there but what I meant was I originally thought the Wehrmacht was the german army, but the Heer is the german army, and the Wehrmacht means the general german military.

Honestly, I can find nothig wrong with this pack...

This looks to be the best and most accurate Axis pack that has been released to date...

My only real suggestion would be to slap on ajjers high poly hands...

Good Job...

And if you need further hosting, the DoDEC is at you side...

Thank you for the feedback Canuck, and thanks for the hosting offer. If you could direct me to the high poly hands I would be happy to put them in the model.

Here is an image of the updated sniper, a new Unteroffizier shoulder board and new Oberschütze arm patch: http://www.lagcs.com/sniper.jpg

The High-Poly hands by ajjer, can be found on this model, look at the body 4 submodel and you'll see them more clearly...

According to Milkshape, these hands are nearly 5000 polygons together...theres no way I would put that many polygons into a model for dod. I'm just going to use hands from a v_model, those will be high quality enough for a player model.

EDIT: New hands done and added officer's belt to Unteroffizier - http://www.lagcs.com/hands.jpg

The model looks to be about done, the only thing left would be higher quality gear.

I don't like that attitude of show my reference you all bs me, im trying to help you on a job you should do by yourself.

That's the eagle you were using:
http://www.warelics.com/images/sseagle5.jpg
http://www.antiquesarmsandarmor.com/eagle-ss2.JPG

you won't see a german soldier with such eagle, unless he is in the waffen SS or one of the other SS arms.

That's the eagle the heer were using:
http://library.thinkquest.org/17573/bulge/nazi.jpg
it's a patch placed on the right side of the chest, and only there.

those are the heer's helmet signs http://216.205.92.146/decals_heer.jpg

you can check here for more info : http://www.atthefront.com/

P.S
just from the protocol everyone that was saying what should be and what shouldn't was 100% right.

Don't even start on my own thread! I wasn't giving an attitude to ANYONE nor to YOU specifically...I didn't even mention your name. There were like 5-6 different suggestions, all which I wasn't sure of, and I think 2 that even contrasted each other so i was confused on what was true what could be confirmed etc...to be honest I didn't know you even said the word 'reference' because I was just skimming through the posts so I must have missed it. Don't get on my case in my own damn thread when the reality of it is, there was no attitude, only a simple blunt point. Don't give me any 'job you should do yourself' because I wasn't asking for any suggestions, but I took them and adapted several of them when I didn't have to.

I will change the eagle...just give me some more time.

Anyways...

Here is an updated image showing where the models currently stand, and this time they have their respective gear (which I think I want to change around).

http://www.lagcs.com/heer.jpg

EDIT: I changed the eagle to the one you provided mortar, thanks. I also added the black, white, and red shield to the other side of the helmet.

Question...

Did you change the dimensions of thiers heads...

I don't know if it's the angle of the Screen, but their heads seem alittle over sized...Might be just me...

Felix

The resolution of the head textures are large now, but the head models are the same as they have always been.

Please, pretty please, roll up the sleeves on the Kar43 and MG class. I still have a pretty diffucult time indentifying them from the Kar98 classes, since they have the same uniform.

You might also want to add some hair on that Sniper too, or Camo paint.

Felix
05-06-2004, 04:54 PM
His head is shaved, and I might roll the sleeves of one of those two classes. He has hair, but you can't really see it at that angle.

Dying Robot
05-06-2004, 05:46 PM
Do NOT roll up the sleeves please. Stick to this original concept.

If anyone crave a rolled up sleeve model later, release it seperately. I like the looks of this pack a lot...I just hope that nothing too drastic is done to it that'll **** it up.

hope it'll be done soon.

Vandal

Ive always liked the rolled up sleeve look. Reguardless, I'm using these. 10/10.

Splinter
05-06-2004, 07:30 PM
Agreed, this is the most realistic Axis skin ive ever seen here. Nice work 10/10

Though im really not a fan of those hats on the unteroffizier. I just cant imagine that hat being on the battlefield of DoD.

But anyways, nice work again. :)
