Ok, so i take it that i cant just compile into the maps folder in steam. (something to do with hammer not being able to go through the email@domain.com folder?? not sure)

so where does everything go, in my old WON HL folder, and i copy to steam when its compiled.

and where should my hammer options point too. eg "Game exacutable directory" should that be the steam folder or the WON folder.

there is a way to compile for steam but I dunno where it was, I think dodmaps made a tutorial, not sure tho, anyway, your hammer options(prolly only the hl.exe doesn't matter where you point too because u'd have to copy it anyway). Then the models/sprites/textures and such have to point to your won folder(but you'll have to copy them anyway to your steam folder) otherwise you can't see them and might have some trouble while launching the map.

there no reason to compile/copy in your hl folder .. just make a c:\compile folder and compile in there ..copy the files manually

Copy files manually ... come on ... it can be automatic

DOS has a problem to recognize the spaces in "day of defeat" folder. Rename it to dayofd~1 in the Hammer configuration. Done.

you do it your way i do it mine :) .. one of the main reasons why i do it manually is that i want to keep my dev dod clean..

thx for the feedback. ive decided to make a folder and then copy the files after the compile, its quite straightforward and it works

I build my maps with hammer, and use zoner's tools for compilation. At the end of the batch script I use for the building process, the resulting .bsp is copied into Steam's dod\maps\ folder. Pretty straightforward...

Hey,

I made a couple tfc maps in the past but was looking to make a DoD map. I see you guys say not to set up worldcraft through steam (which is cool cuz i couldn't find the dod wad file in there) but the only DoD i have that is not on steam is like an old version. Is there a new tutorial on set up that some one knows of? The one posted above said the page was missing. Also, I did find a dod.fgd but how do i know if it is a current fgd and comptable with the steam version of dod? Thanks for any help.

By the way, i never used zoner tools or hammer before, i just compiled through worldcraft and never had a problem with it so i would like to continue that way. Thanks again!
