That;'s nice that people are messign with crosshairs and flag sprites and flag models. That's nice i appreciate it very much. But would someone please work more on converting high poly 3.1 player models or even earlier british weapon models. Seriously.

All in due time.

Urge to kill rising...

Ok.

Look brother, work your magic to get us the new compiler, which we need to convert and create models and your wish will be granted.

Yeah really, i figured you people would understand after about a week of this sorta ****, not to mention the 10+ threads asking for the new compiler. Im not going to get pissed at you, cause for now, its ok, you are just ignorant as to the problem.

We cant compile a modle with the seethru blue holes and stuff, so anything we wanted to ahve nice holes for, we cant convert till we get the new compiler.

And we cant compile ANY player models besides the brits, becuase our curent compiler just doesnt work. DOnt ask me why, im no programmer, i jsut make stuff for DoD. So untilw e get a new compiler, theres nothing to do BUT reskins of the defaults. So, dont whine or complain and ***** at us, and dont post any more stupid requests for things we cant do yet, cause its starting to fray my nerves (as if you couldnt tell). If you want to direct your feeling, opinions, or flames about the modles were releasing (or lack thereof) direct them at the damn dev team. Which as of yet, has said ABSOLUTLY NOTHING in regards to compiling. IF they came a made a thread saying "we will not release our compiler, cause we hate each and every one of you." i would be satisfied. I would go make models for some other mod, but noooooo, the dev team has chosen to ignore us COMPLETLY, they are just going to pretend we aren't here, screaming for a compiler. So, go PM a dev team member, or all of them, and tell them to give it out. But dont make any stupid threads like "Why arent you guys making nice stuff?" cause I know im not the only one whos going to get pissed.

Err, what the hell are you talking about?

Studiomdl.exe for Half-Life has been out for like 4 years lol

I think you are a liar who pretends to have been in the DoD community for a long time, I believe you played CS like a week ago ;)

FYI DoD needs a new studiomdl.exe compiler for the playermodels because in dod they have too many animations for the original compiler to handle. Such a compiler was released a bit after 2.0 :F

In this (http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2854) thread of the Mapping forum, Waldo says that he believes Molotov Billy made a tutorial for this (http://collective.valve-erc.com/) site explaining how to make transparencies in models, like the shingles for Charlie [and, by association, all the other such transparencies the DoD team is now using].

This, to me, suggests that it may be possible to make transparencies without a new compiler. The only problem is that I couldn't find the tutorial. Perhaps someone else may be able to. Someone around here usually tends to surprise me in some fantastic way that I'm always appreciative of.

Although people whining for "substantial things" doesn't. We're doing this stuff for OURSELVES, primarily. That you grubby people can get your hands on what WE do is a secondary concern. We move in the steps we feel most inclined to.

Note also that crosshairs and such take little time. This means you'll see them much sooner than, say, a new weapon model. If you want weapon models, look at the inumerable MWIP threads that exist. Some are conversions, some are original. The last thing you're liable to see is new player models.

Different projects take different amounts of time. This version of DoD has barely been out a WEEK. How long do you think it takes to make a whole new model, with a whole new mesh and skin and all the little details that make such things so desireable, mmm? It can take the best of these guys months to finish ONE model. Be happy you're getting ANYTHING so soon after release.

People will make what they want, its not up to you what they make. If they want to make crosshairs and flags, then they will. Live with it.

sorry for forgetting that we didn't have the compiler. :) I'm sure there are plenty of seemingly legitimate reasons for it to take so long to give us the thing. The same kind of reasons valve never wanted to tell us jack about TF2 or HL2 or anything they were doing for 5 years.

See the funny thing about this is that anyone who has been in MSA for longer than the 2 weeks these boards have been up would know about the modified compilers for DoD. So what makes it funny is that someone who obviously hasn't a ****ing clue what they're talking about and hasn't heard of information that's been around since BETA 2.0 is calling someone who does know the score a newbie.

So shut your ass, and learn a bit more before running your mouth.

lol, its funny to see people attempt to act like they were around before 1.0... whats the point?

Oh, and about this complaining... WTF is wrong with you? Pretty much what you said in this thread is "Thank you for making all of those crosshairs, but that is crap and crap isnt good enough for me, crawl back into your holes and only post new models so I can post useless crap like UBER SEX in the release threads"

I dont know much about actually making models and skins, but i found out a long time ago to respect the model makers, as they do all of this for no other reason than to distribute their work to the community. And its GOD DAM quality work. By the end of beta 3, hell, by the end of 1.3 i didnt have a single default model. This forum is without a doubt the only reason to not get banned from the forums.

Two things:

DO NOT COME IN MSA AND START FLAME WARS.
DO NOT COME IN MSA AND INSULT PEOPLE
DO NOT COME IN MSA AND DEMAND THINGS
DO NOT COME IN MSA AND INSULT PEOPLES WORK

Was that 4? I do apologize. Heed my warning.
