Finally!

I found a few little bugs last night that I had to patch up but I *think* everything is O.K. now.

The only remaining bug is that for some MDL filenames more than 8 characters, when you double click the file, it opens HLMV but doesnt load the file. This seems to be an OS issue and now one with HLMV as open the file from the File menu works fine.

*edit* dragging an MDL onto the icon works too, its just the long filename double clicking that doesnt.

Anyway, heres the URL:

Spread the word! :)

Is there a tutorial out there on how to re-origin v_weapons via Jed's HLMV? I could use some help giving some custom models the default origins from 1.1 models (ex: Cheetos Nagant Revolver, etc.)

RTFM!

The readme, which opens after installation and is in the HLMV folder contains an FAQ with a URL to a tutorial.

Hey Jed, I found that if you delete the extension in the File Types and then manually add it, it lets you open up files with >8 characters.

Care to expand on that?

Well, immediately after I installed your new version, I tried opening a model file with >8 characters (v_beretta.mdl), which of course, didn't work. So what I did was (This is in Windows XP, though I'm sure it'll work in any other Windows version) click on Folder Options, File Types, searched for the MDL filetype, click advanced, edited the 'open' Action and browsed and opened the new HLMV exe file. Inside the editbox it should say somethign like:

"C:\Program Files\Jed's Half-Life Model Viewer 1.1\hlmv.exe" %1

instead of

C:\Program Files\Jed's Half-Life Model Viewer 1.1\hlmv.exe "%1" (or something) like it is on install.

Cheers matey. I'll check the installer script. Thats probably whats goofing it up.

I know this is a part time project among many. But let me just say, having THUMBNAILS for the models would be extrememly handy.

I dont know how feasible this is or if its humanly possible, but nonetheless, it'd be an invaluable option. Good work Jed, keep it up. You have many fans here :)

O.K, I've fixed the installer bug which stops you double clicking on long filenames to open them. You can either apply Podunkian's quick fix or un-install and re-download HLMV. When you install it again it'll fix the file opening problem.
