Been hacking a bit at HLMV and done some changes to make it v1.1.

Nothing revoutionary, just some bug fixes and a few small things people asked for that I could do.

- Optional wireframe overlay mode.
- View the models eye position.
- Added a polygon counter to the submodels tab.
- Tweaked display of textures to stop them blurring so much in texture view.
- Added sequence selection to the Weapon Origin tab.
- A few optimisations here and there.
- Noob friendly reminders.

Umm, thats all.

I'll upload it in the next couple of days.

lol Like the 'noob friendly reminder' bit.

Looking forward to it, the last one was a god send.

BTW little off topic but is your sig from 'A Bridge too Far'?

Oooh i have a suggestion. Can you put in a drag and drop feature where you can just drag the file into the HLMV window please. I've been wanting that for so long seeing as I so lazy :)

Not a direct suggestion, but making Save Model save the origins too would stop about 90% of the help questions at CDG, they all seem to think it works like that. :p It would probably take a fair bit coding tho, as it'd have to edit every anim with the new origins, something only studiomdl seems able to do...

No sorry, not with the way HLMV is written but I just associate HLMV with MDL files. Double click and it loads.

And yes Ska, its from ABTF.

Thats come up over and over again and its not possible. I belive that when you set the origin in the QC and it compiles, it movels the meshes and bones based on it. Effectivly the model is moved and "set" at compile time and when displaying the model it doesnt look at the origin and then move it that by that much.

LOL that is as bad as me, i ask for an auto load feature, where when you compile a model it automatically loads it up..:).

Nice work Jed, just gave it a testing, and the changes you have made make it that bit more user friendly, have a cookie my friend....:).

Yeah, that's what I meant by having to edit it into the anims. The way origins seem to work is that on compile the bones of the animations are moved by the origin amount, comparing two identical anims on different origins in Notepad shows that sort of thing happening. Reference smd's seem to stay the same tho.

Anyway, back on the topic, the new changes sound useful, especially the sequence selector on origin view and polycount on submodel tab, they're generally the only things I felt were misplaced on older versions. :)

That's a real good one ! when you click compile it closes the window, running the dos proccess and open it as it ends (it really slows down the system when it's open), it can be very useful and time saving ;]

anyway jed im very happy you are working on the HLMV which is a super important program for every one who works with model and textures or just want to look at HL models.
Some times i find myself hours looking at models, compiling, decompiling checking sequences and everything there is super useful ! keep it up man ;]

Don't know if you can add it Jed, but any chance of making it so we can pick the colour for the new wire frame overlay, no biggy if you can't, i just think it would be better if we could though. Because i myself find the true white a little hard on my eyes as it flickers away when playing an anim.

Thanks.
