So far so good mate. Not a very clear pic so i cant really give any advice.

For teh railing i'd jus use single faces as they can be turned transparent later.

I'm assuming this is gonna be the main map piece? Either that or you're making one huge frigging map lol

Keep us posted, looking forward to this one getting finished.

sorry for going off topic, but your new sig is from Zulu, right Ska? One I've actually seen now...well, not all of it, just parts in European history, but whatever.

Aye its from Zulu. I love the film, especially cos the Welsh finally get a mention. Everyone seems to assume that the British Army was jus full of English (I'm half Welsh jus incase you haven't guessed yet lol)

BTW, whats the poly's so far? if you're serious about modelling i suggest getting 3ds max or GMax as i personally feel they are easier to make stuff in than in Milky. I only really use milky for minor edits and as a staging point between 3DS max and importing to dod.

Anyway, looks good so far. Kepp it up mate, I'll be keeping an eye for this definately.

Very nice work mate. The cylinder in the second new pic though is a little too high poly, could probably be cut down to a 4/6 sided cylinder.

Aside from that very good work mate. You gonna animate it firing later? That would be quality.

I love it mate looks really good :) I was considering doing a map where the allies had to assault a tunnel network in order to get to a big cannon like this and had to cap/destroy it :)

BTW whats the poly so far on this monster?

looks liek a ncie model though i think you ned to smooth some bits off.

Ska Wars
03-15-2004, 10:58 AM
The model isn't smoothed lol

When showing WIP pics of a model in construction you should always show them flat shaded to show people the basic polys of it.

Looks good, but if it was me i would add a few more polys to the cannon, IMO it looks awful. If you look at this pic, you can see the cannon is shaped a bit different to your model, you could rebuild it, and where the rear ring is, you could use a texture to show that, and the polys you save, could be used to round it off a bit.

No probs...:)

Here is the link to the main site, it has some nice reference pic's of various German models, mainly planes, but theres a few more pic's of the Gerät 040 Mortar, should help you out a bit, and with the textures aswell...:).
