Well you've gotten further than I have.

Also I think I have an idea of what you're going for on that map. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you trying to create a german battlefield scenario with the occasional house along a long dirt road. And you know screaming mimis and 88's and hedgerows. Then the Allies have to push up with tanks and infantry and stop those bastages.

Just a thought.:(

Hey Acid Burn,

Id reccomend 2 things:

1. Keep working, we do all start somewhere, I was once at your spot, and I didnt give up, and now, I have 3 beautiful maps that will be released this year.

2. Id reccomend that you add more content to your maps before you post them on the forum, sometims youll get real jerks who'll cut you down.

Obviously, we all take these risks. I didnt think anyone would like my map, dod_ryan at all. Not being modest, I was scared to death to post it, and very worried about what people would say, and I have plenty of ppl to vouch for that.

But I did wait until I had something more to show everyone, and I suggest that you wait a few weeks to show us more stuff.

Welcome to the mapping community, I'll look forward to watching you progress as time goes on.

hey- my first map was a friggin BOX with 2 spawn points and some grass brushes that you couldn't walk through.

add some fences and some hedges and slopes to the road and maybe some ditches. the concept could work if you fill in the edges of the map and make it a lot less flat. for instance one team could spawn in a wheat field or something and the other on one side of a small hill with a house or a fence they can snipe through, and they both go at eachother near a road with some buildings and hay bails and hedges and everything for cover. i really like the basic concept of it, but it seems to have been a little poorly executed, but you'll get it down quick i bet.

since the map looks fairly small, add some sniping spots near both team's spawns, like perhaps the axis could be using a barn and some hay bails near their spawn and the allies could use a wooden fence and some hedges to snipe/mg from as well. just make sure that the line of sight isn't clear so you can't mow down half the map from one spot (put up more houses in the middle even if they're just shanties) and make some terrain curvature. it could work, i'm telling you. i've always been a fan of the 'thumbnail' map concept where you have two to three flags or objectives and quick access to them from your spawns (my map is a 'thumbnail' map concept as well, but set in a forest)

good luck!

My first map was a CS map with guard tower, helicopter, a pool (all prefabs) and some simple houses (with working doors!!).

So yes, your map isn't that bad for a first map.

More like "gloater" :p

Ryan is NEVER VCs first map. ;)

My first map was a couple of interconnecting corridors (for SP HL), with a large open area in the centre. I put a load of zombies going across a bridge in the centre, and beneath the bridge, I plonked some assassins. Oh, and a Gman monster here and there.... I was puzzled as to why I couldn't kill the bugger!

Well as the saying goes, practice makes perfect.
