In need of some good DoD tutorials...

Hello,
Since I've been helped out by other users who answered my question how to make my map compile I think the time has come to provide myself with the needed knowledge to make a good quality 'capture the flag' or 'objective' map.
This I need to know:

- making rain
- wich skynames are available
- how to put some background noise (like bombs, mg fire)
- how to make a working objective (like capturing all flags or destroying tanks)
- how to make all things work in harmony

Does somebody know some good tutorial(s) wich could help me learn the skills needed?

Your help (or link) would be verry much appreciated,

Greyhound.

- making rain

add info_doddetect entity and examine it's properties.

- wich skynames are available

look into dod\gfx\env,

- how to put some background noise (like bombs, mg fire)

add ambient_generic entity, choose wav file in properties

- how to make a working objective (like capturing all flags or destroying tanks)

Read tutorials mentioned in Mapping FAQ, they will give you details, esp. thos listed on mardymouse site.

there isnt much else a newbie mapper needs that isnt listed, linked, or given a tut on that this site doesnt have, an absolute MUST for any new mappers.

So many times people say this sort of stuff.

This is only the case if for some reason you have installed the WON v1.0 version of DoD. This will not be the case of any Newbie mapper, or me come to think of it

Get this: http://countermap.counter-strike.net/Nemesis/index.php?p=26

Find out from that webby on how to use it. Then find the DoD gfx\env folder using it, it will list the sky names you can use in your maps.

I have to say, these tutorials helped me to make my first map really quick! (and I only watched the first one!)

Downloading the other two now.. they're really good guys.. the english isn't as bad as you might think (being a german website and all)

He actually kind of sounds like elmer fudd. :)

Cheers,
Joshua

edit: the 2nd and 3rd ones seem to freeze up for me when watching the videos.. but the audio keeps going.. any ideas? :(

didn't have any problems watching the first...
