nice model. wrong game. Doesn't make much sense anyway being as m16's are not automatic. Try putting that much effort into making a Thompson and you might have something.

If you don't like it, don't download it. Look good strider, i was wondering about the status of this lately.

The link won't work even with a 'right click save target as.' Can somebody mirror this or send it to me? I'd really like to use it.

take who to school? pffttt and full auto wasnt taken away cause "people" thought it was wasting ammo... The Army decided against Full auto with the A2 because the vast amounts of ammo that was waisted in vietnam by what we essentially call "spray and pray" im not sure of the numbers but in was def 1000's upon 1000's of rounds of waisted ammunition by american soldiers, because of firing tactics developed in ww2 by american GI's who taught the young guns or FNG's to shoot at anything even if you cant see it, which was a direct contradiction of what they were taught in boot camp, and the tactics carried over into korea and eventually into vietnam.

and just for GP the barrel wasnt triangular shaped.. that makes no sense. what was triangular shaped, to try and accomidate for leftand right handed users alike was the barrel shroud or "forward hand grip" whatever youd like to call it

Works like these i look in a diffrent way... not dod related at all, and i think it's a very nice job there, if you ask me... i wouldn't want to play a WWII game with an M16 because i find that look stupid and i don't enjoy stupid things usualy :p (there i join bruta)

still... those kind of works do have a place in here imo and i think the ones who don't really care will hf with it ;-)

Take it easy, cheers ;-]

nobodys fighting, i dont want a fight i just thought it was rather rude to say ill take you to school... when his information there after was obviously wrong, so i took it upon myslef to correct it. deleting his post was smart as other people might have done what I did, anyways who cares really? thats what i thought. and as everyone else has said, yep its a good model, but wrong game because im sure most of us who play this game go for as much realism as possible, hell if we didint we would all still be playing HL right? Def good thing that he put it all together though because im sure a slim few will enjoy this and he should be happy for that =)

Strider, this is a very good model, but with me, what it comes down to, you made it for the wrong gun. Why not make the M16a1 for the B.A.R, since it is the closet equivalent? I mean, they are both rifles, both tote the same clip capacity (G.I.'s in Vietnam usually had 20 rounds per clip), and to be frank, it is the only thing keeping me from using it.

Still a very good job.

I could say the same for the M-14 replacement you made too Strider. That thing is too humungous to be a Carbine! :p

But, how will the bipods work on those two models though?

Thanks for that info. I never knew the Army was run by cats and dogs.

Surely puts new meaning to the dogs of war, eh?

It had nothing to do with ammo "wasted" in Vietnam.

However, it was because the frequent jammings that all future revisions of the M16 were no longer Full-Auto, but instead, burst fire.

ANYway its not like i said its a big piece of **** and bashed you for it... never said i didnt like it, I'm just more towards realism SO BACK OFF!

Kettenhund

No, it was the amount of ammo wasted, the reason the ealier m16a1's jammed was because the army didnt have the barrels chromed, which was ok until they changed the type of powder used in the ammunition and it gummed up the barrels, so they started shipping cleaning kits, which they didnt do to begin with because it was said to be a "low maintinance" weapon, which was true with the origional powder planned for use. the barrels had nothing to do with it, look it up.
Ive read on several sites... I dont have the links at hand but all of them had numbers close to 20,000 rounds for 1 enemy kill for the average infantryman compared to I think 1.3 rounds per kill for snipers, due to the tactics I explained earlier. Seriously look it up you will find out that was the main reason for the adoption of 3 round burst over full auto, it wasnt the only reason im sure but it was the main reason.
Just for GP I think another "small" reason for the 3RB was due to the army stressing accuracy and marksmanship alot more in the years following vietnam. Which in turn has led to debate of the m16a2 being "too" accurate and not lethal enough for combat, but thats a whole nother story.

/EDIT here is one link of a great many but this will tell a good history of the m16 and yes it will tell you that 3RB was adopted because of wasted ammo.
