When you put some model with env_model there are some options in it's properties like Sequence when on, Behaviour, .... In Sequence fields you should enter correct animation sequence names.

can you be a little more specific? for instance

1. are you trying to insert the model in the map?
2. are you trying to view the model & animations in the map editor?

answers to both:

1. (a) If you are trying to insert the model in the map, then select your entity tool.

(b) Click somewhere in the map and your default entity will appear.

(c) Select the entity you just placed, and hit 'cntrl-enter' to select its properties. You can also find this in the pull down menus.

(d) select in the list of enities 'env_model' or type it in the top field

(e) click the 'model name' field, and select your model by browsing.

(f) close the box by clicking the X button. Your model should now be in there.

(g) To view you models animations in the editor, you must go to the options menu.

2. or (h) navigate through the setup options until you find a checkbox that says 'animate models'. If clicked your models defualt animation (a player would be idle) will play. Craftos specified how to pick a specific animation above.

If this does not answer your question, please be more specific.

There are several textures in dod wads named matxxxx, like matwood, matmetal, etc. You have to make brush in the shape of model then set it's properties
FX amount = 0
Render mode = texture

PS. Open in Hammer model_zoo ( example map with default DoD models and look how it should be done.
