hey guys my latest atmept at beach map and its finally going to plan (i bet something like my comp wont start up will end me in losing it all)

anyways its no wer near done

7 hours of work on the map is what i have done so far.

r_speeds 500-600 700max

i havent tried fog yet so it might look really good with fog :)

Looks great.

I would suggest you pull a DoD_Dog1 on the sides of the map and extend it farther, but make a set of hedgehogs blocking that way.

i might extend it alot

cant build much back land tho cos beach nearly fills all of the grid

so ill have to do some good teleport work.

go thro a hedgerow then it teleports you to a nother bit of the map and you wont notice any diffrence

i think ima slap ya dances w wolves... hmmm ya i am *slap*:p ... last i checked dredd wasnt a team member and he doesnt have 1.0 so.. how could he have the american and brits? ...alltho he could have custom models wich could explain it =) still <3 ya thoe dances w wolves :D

Looks very nice, only thing I see that could maybe use fixing is that hedge at the end of the map. Maybe if you added more and curled it around or something it would look better (if you even know what I'm talking about).

What can I say.... That map looks awesome! I just started my own beach map, but it's not quite as nice. Btw. How did you use so many hedgehog models without lag? I had about 13 of them on my beach. It was fine until I added some sturmbots to play with, then my fps went down.

Anyway, I look forward to the release of this map, since there can never be too many beach maps!

The teleporting idea sounds great (hmmm I might use this...). Just be sure that the next chunk of map is above/below far enough that you don't hear footsteps above or below you! Imagine the confusion! :D

It's really appealing to the eye. Very nice terrain. Did you do that yourself or use a terrain gen?

Looks very promising. I like how it has a certain distinctiveness to it. It doesn't look like other beach maps. I agree with xerent on the yellowish sand though. And another thing, it looks like some of your beach obstacles are overlapping eachother in the first pic. Maybe it's just my eyes but one of the hedgehogs is going right through the big wooden thing (can't remember what its called now).

It is looking good so far but you should use model based tanktraps instead of brush based... that is also the problem with dod_charlie the brush based tanktraps do not look very good... if you can not find tank trap models i can post a few that i have that look great and are pretty low poly

Also your terrain has a little to much variation in hight you might want to make it a tad less hilly

thx for comments guys :) (it just makes me want to make even more nad get it done ;)) anyway yeah the hedgerow at the back is ognna be changed and the hegdgehog that goes thro that little log thing that was a error that i forgot to delete so thats gone/ i might need to delete a few hedgehogs cos it does lag a bit with 25 bots on tha map at once.

but dont bots take up cpu power?


and wouldnt 25 on any map lag your comp?

next im gonna add explosions etc

and when 1.0 comes out there gonna be new models on the map and smoke on the beach and maybe even a shingle using the new barbwire fence.

If there are about 15 bots on the beach then the epoly count will go sky high which makes fps drop a lot. Remember low fps isn't the same as lag

yeah i think it might be just my comp cos i got player models that are over 3000 each

and guns models about 2500 so i think if the average dod player has no custom models then it shouldnt make fps go down at all


well expect the map to be release shortly after 1.0 ;)

WoW man. Its about time we saw maps with broken crap on them. I like the texturing and the bunker. Does it have much of a underground scene to it?

the Behind wil be a para normadn type think like band of brother 2nd episode.

there will be a under ground root to nearly everything
little bit short than dog1 under ground network i think

objectives im thinking catpure beach for allies then the back bit hedgerow bit then blow up the 88s
