i recognise the face paint, thats the the middle dude in the bunch of dudes wen u do training before ur crawl threw the pipes.
i see great potential in all of this, next youll need to do axis, and the green allies from the snow missions, but edit off the snow. :)

Nice conversion, it would be better if you will use the new high poly hands some1 released a while ago.

personally i hate COD player models, they are short, fat and ugly but again... good conversion :-)

lol wtf?? short and fat? are you high? CoD player models are the best world war 2 models ever, and i think thier animations are really good, i like that "waddle" as ppl call it, it looks realistic, and is how you would run if you were trying not to get shot, dod models run tall on the battlefield, not the smartest thing to do, and i really love the death animations in CoD they are really good.
I hope Red Orcestra turns out better mutli player then cod did though

Leave dod models aside, CoD player models look like hobits ! im serious, they are so short ! and they run like retards, i can't stand their animes...
If you want to see realistic model play H&D2... that's the game with the best player models i know, simply amazing models.

I agree with mortar but really it's the Quake 3 engine that makes them so crappy looking. =\

great conversion, I donīt see a new player compiler coming soon though. We might need to ask PIU again.

OMFG, you are my hero nobody!!! I LOVE the way DOD plays and I LOVE the way COD looks! Now with both of them combined, it will be amazing. You got to make more man, maybe like weapons????

But back to the point, i will def. dl this one.

Looking really good.

I would like some nice german CoD models aswell...and since you've done such a nice job with these, would you be so kind and try converting some neat axis soldiers aswell?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not looking for a fight here, and i hope this post does not come over as negative. But i am curious to know, why peeps like Cod player models over dod's. I mean don't get me wrong Cod is a great game, with very nice graphics, but one of it's weak points has got to be it's player models and skins. IMO MOHAA player skins and models are better then Cod's, and i also think Dod default player models and skins are better aswell.

If you look at this Pic IMO the Dod one is better then the Cod one.

PIC (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/scitzo/cod_dod.jpg)

One thing that stands out more then anything to me with the Cod model, is the arm is nearly as fat as the leg, now that can't be right.

How do you actually edit COD models? What plugins do you need and what programs cos I've been meaning to edit the weapon models cos those low res skins are really pissing me off lol

Looks good btw, love the heads.

err....the dude is just really buff lol

i would like to know what program opens the .dds files so i can take a peek at those textures:)

Marzy failed to point out that those DoD airborne models are actually the defaults with my head and hands on but no mind...

The point is, games like MOHAA, COD, etc either use photo textures or just really bad low quality textures whereas DoD (at least the defaults) use original, hand drawn textures. While you cant beat a photo texture for realism sadly they aren't photographed or retouched very well.

As for DDS textures, Milkshape 1.7.0 supports them or download the DDS file format plug-in for Photoshop from nVidia.

If and when this does get finished, I would advise against providing direct links here. There's been heat over converted RtCW models and such.

Just a reminder.

I don't personally care for CoD's player models [or CoD in general, having actually forjed over the cash and everything]. I find the skins to be horribly blah. All fogged and blurred. No crispness. No clarity. They're like they're being seen through heavy fog.

Forral

They are very bright... certantly don't want to be playing as allies against any axis people using them :(

Billie|Joe
01-02-2004, 09:43 PM
so how exactly do i view them through milkshape

The problem with MoH and CoD models, is that they're out of proportion compared to DoD models.

<3 DoD. :)

yeah these just wont look right in dod unless you proportion them right

marzy,

to tell you the truth i'm not exactly sure why i like cod models better. I think it may be the animations that i like. I like the fact that in cod when there running, there crouched over and sort of look like "gorlillas". so maybe if the dod models were a little "baggier" and had cod animations, for running at least, then i would probobly like dod's better.

I agree with everyone's comments about the CoD models not looking too great. Both the player and weapon skins seem washed out and blurry. I mean, look at the Garand =P The weapon models aren't too spectacular either. It's like lots of things that could have been modeled are handled by the skin instead, and it looks pretty crappy if you ask me. Syl, I don't think these will be using the CoD animations when they come out =/

yea otacon, but whatever. ill give these models a try anyway!

i like the idea, but depending on how the community may react to the idea of an IP violation...

Kami
01-11-2004, 02:44 AM
is it really an IP violation if a few small things were different??

VoodooChild

Nobody: your previous work speeks for you. Ive downloaded some of your custom models. Id like to make a formal request for some british and axis CoD coversions.

Regarding IP violation, uuhhh no. As long as the CoD team is credited for the skins or whatever your using, no one should care. Just remember to always give credit where credit is do. Keep in mind im not trying to start a debate over this.

Though DoD's are good, I like to mix things up a bit. I'm sure plenty of others will agree to that. Its part of the fun of HL, being able to customize so deeply. Lets see em.

how do you open them up with milkshape? are you talking about 3dsm?

Trp. Jed
01-26-2004, 07:18 AM
You dont open them with milkshape - it just supports the format when making a texture. So you can import them and slap them on a mesh.

The Directx SDK possibly has a viewer but I just use the DDS plug-in for photoshop.

*edit*

Try the DDS Thumbnail viewer.

lookin forward to givin these a try...cods modles look ok, but they animate like the special olympics...lets see how they look w/ some nice dod animations...still the most comfortable for me**

It'll probably look like pants as HL doesn't have vertex blending like CoD of HD2 so the vertices at the joints will get all mangled unless you re-work them all.

If you downloaded these models, and dont like the face of the 1st model for allies, heres a touch up without that wierd face paint:

See attachment

Just import it over the other one if you like it.
