anways this is you old new map redone by me :)
i ended up redoing about 90% of the brushwork and replace every single texture

and now its ready for beta!

so load em up them servers and have a go at it !

It's a good edit, but I have a few suggestions:

-Lighting could be a tad more dramatic
-Stick with blaz's more colorful textures for buildings
-Axis side streets are all pretty empty looking, add some trees in the middle like allies side
-Some of the buildings just look a bit odd, dunno just edit some of the brushwork

Otherwise I actually really like it, gj. :)

Well, just a couple things from running around in LAN.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make it so you can't fire while laying under the water.

I have some gameplay thoughts, but I'll wait till after the playtest to see if they ring true.

yah the lighting is 'meh'
why is there dirt/rubble piles nowhere near destruction?
too much of an Escape feel

it basically is cr44 with new routes and heavily editted otherwise

afther the playtest ill run some compiles with diffrent bounce and smooth settings to see how it turns out


ye shane i know about the slope thingies ill make some clip slopes to iron them out as much as possible

thanks for the great release :D

However, this does not cancel the cr44 mapping contest. we´re currently deciding on the dates for the final playtests. IR`s map is based on cr44 but has enough differences to be considered as a completly new map.

(Just a message for those who panicked because they thought their cr44 variations would be useless now)

yeh i already talked with rotty im sorry about the whole contest thing i didnt know it was still going on

i found the rmf on my hd and was bored during christmas so i finished the map in 3 days straight without looking back or forward :)

It looks pretty good but imo if this would be posted anonymous I wouldn't think you'd have made this map just because if I compare this map to jagd, escape or campagne... it's nowhere near that quality imo, I'd say you can do a lot better qua looks, but hey, this is just my opinion.

i kinda agree with quaker.. the quality of the brushwork is blocky and looks like 2.0 brushwork... nothing like jagd etc, wich has nice brushwork and nice details etc

whats everyone talking about, the lighting is perfect !!! Try setting your gamma from 100% to 65-70% in the in-game video options. don't change the lighting!

Good map but I have a few minor gripes:
-water does not splash
-skybox looks out of place
-no overview
-roof exploits near church tower
-The broken down American half-truck(Tolchok's model), although very nice, looks out of place. The base of model has a muddy tire tracks but this looks odd when you positioned the model on a clean cobble/stone street.

BTW how is dod_honor progressing?

Mirror is up!! Repackaged in the DSSG installer so that it is easier to install. The DSSG installer will find the file path to the dod folder for the user. Easy as clicking next three times!!

This remake is awesome. I allways like cr44 but with todays texture standards it just didn't stand up and never really got that much play. The layout changes were awesome, and the textures are beutifull.

I spent all day in the bell tower (as an allied player) and they were obsessed with trying to get me out.. it was a blast. GJ man, another great map.

One thing though, maybe you could include a couple more single cap flags. The double caps are great, but with a full server they'd probably cap pretty fast. Maybe one in the water or something.

I am really greatful to have such a good looking update to this classic map.

It does strike me as somewhat Axis biased in present form, due to the fact that a best-spawning Axis can make it to the Allied side of the Broken Bridge before a right-running Allied can get to the house doorway.

2-3 rushing this route at round start can quickly pin the Allies back at their 2nd flag.

also, the axis have that sniper tower to cover, but the allies dont have anything good to fire from to cover their last flag. Also, on the allies side of the bridges, theres a set of windows looking at allies 2nd, which can be well used by the axis. But theres no windows near the axis second for the allies to use. Great map, great sky! but a bit unbalanced in those areas.

thx for all the comments in the mean time we have been testing on spies. i think i managed to fix most or all of the axis "favor"
problems. theres a newer version beta 3 floating around
because cal is using it in their league

blazeer has been redoing/editting all his textures for the map
to make it look older and more dirty, he did a great job!

im not sure when the public will see a new version, because
i keep making small changes as we playtest but i guess it shouldnt be 2 far off

as for the name, no i didnt take it off the movie ( it was actually the name for escape before it got turned into escape :P )

but thx for linking to that movie it sure looks great and i didnt even know about it
