Actually this is a release of two models, because I've made some improvements to the hanomag, and that is also ready as version 3.
I've made a very simple webpage so that you can preview and download the models :

Here (http://freespace.virgin.net/es.dawe/Tolchok_models/home.htm)

Included with the models are .rmf files containing clip brushes for all the models including sub-models. The Truck and hanomag also have .rmf files for destroyable versions that can be simply copied and pasted into your map.

As always, comments and feedback are appreciated.

Next, I have a question for all mappers. I'll be starting another model soon, but I would like some feedback from the community - so, what would you find most useful?
My preference is for vehicles, and I have a list of stuff I'm considering:

Panther
88mm anti-tank gun
M3 half Track
Opel Blitz (I think there is already a version of this, but I can't find it)
Bren carrier
Sherman Firefly
75mm pak40 anti-tank gun
DUKW

Tell me what you would like to see, whether it's in the list or not.

A nice clean Opel Blitz would be helpful, or some other civilian vehicles that were used during the war. There seems to be one car model and like 10 versions of it, something different would be nice.

Bren Gun Carrier!!!!

Civilian Cars

DUKW

In that order please!

A sherman firefly and civilian cars would rock! :>
I love the stuff u released here!

yea, some banged up civ cars would be cool, a change from the default one.

The civilian car idea is a very interesting one, and I've been looking forward to using some additive and chrome effects, so I'll seriously consider it.

I have a Sherman Firefly texture set half finished, so that should also put in an appearance soon, and since the DUKW is simply a deuce and a half with a new hull, the conversion shouldn't take too long.

Yea, civilian car with chrome glass additive textures would rock! Make a civilian car nicer than the one in MOHAA. (it's about time DoD proves its true mettle!)....Also, for any other vehicles with glass (maybe your deuce?), you could try providing an interior cockpit and chrome additive glass.

Sounds good. I've found some good reference pics of a Citroen traction avant - it's from the correct period and should make an interesting model subject, especially when I wreck it.
I wanted to make the deuce with additive/chrome glass and a hollow cabin, but the polygon hike prevented it - perhaps not on the first sub-model with the closed canvas, but certainly on the other six.

great work... the team should use your map models in their official map releases. they definately need some good light armored vehicles and trucks instead of those old tanks over and over again.

I'm using various sub-models of the truck in the copy of falaise that the team is looking at...(I replaced the sherman tank on it's side with a busted up truck sub-group) but man-o-man they are seriously up there in terms of memory and file size when you compare these to the regular DoD models...Guess it's the texture size and the detail (I love how you used the masked stuff for the undercarraige detail)...so it's just going to be one of those things...using these might cause trouble on older systems (more texture memory to load into memory, etc).

Kinda like using the hi-poly player weapons of models...it's all relative...greater detail or greater texture amounts = more load on the system.

Very nice...looks very good.

Thanks for all the positive feedback.

Fuzzdad - yes, the models are more memory intensive than the official dod models - the deuce and a half has ten 256X256 textures and seven sub-models. It's really two models rolled into one. The system that I use to make Dod stuff is a knackered old 400mhz PC; the advantages of this is that if it works on my system, it's going to work on 99.9% of other ppls systems. The downside is that it took 17 years to render the final version of Festung. ;)

I've decided what to make next.

I'm going to make two models at once; a DUKW and a Citroen Traction Avant (see attachment)

cool, but the annoying thing about cars in 1940's is that they were all basically the same.

It'll be cool if you could make a flak cannon that is aimed at the sky.. ( not so many 88flak cannons in OFFICAL maps face towards buildings and such, can't be useful)

Ca-Chicken-Soup. I will at some stage be making an 88mm anti tank gun for a map i've been working on. I'm thinking of a vignette style model with the removed bogies, ammo boxes, shells etc. The sub-models will be an undeployed version so that it can be towed by the hanomag, and a AAA version pointing straight up.

Fuzzdad. Thanks for posting the pic. Seeing it in ppls maps is the reward.

Its also in my map dod_density

www.dodmaps.com for pictures

Any chance of individual models, because Im only using the wrecked version of the deuce and having the other god knows how many unused submodels cant be healthy on size and performance. The same for the Hanomag..
