And why should we rip and publicly release models from a hard working RO team again?

I read on the boards a while back, maybe a few weeks ago, that it violates some law pertaining to IP, or Intellectual Property. So not only would it be fairly cheap to rip off the RO team, which have a great mod I myself am going to flock to when I get broadband, but it is illegal as well.

Or maybe IP is only for retail games and whatnot, or maybe I am completely wrong. Either way, the ripping of other models from other game should not be done.

Unlike CoD which is a game, RO is a mod - a free one.
just like DoD.

im not sure if it's right to rip it cause you do pay for UT2003 but...
i dunno...

Copyright belongs to the creator of the work no matter who it is. Doesnt matter if its a game company, group, individual or whatever. Doesnt matter if the game costs, is a mod or is free.

Converting them without permission is still a copyright violation so if your going to do it you'd need to ask the RO team first.

Just because RO is free doesnt mean they wouldnt get upset and if they felt so inclined take legal action.

You can't convert them anyways.

They have to release the sources, and they won't.

I forgot all about copyright laws, you are right jed.
But... if some1 owns RO, he payed for UT2003 and he want to rip the models for his own use... he is free to do so if im not mistaken, publishing will be a diffrent thing.

btw, can you say the same about custom models for RO ? ;]
I think you can get tricky there and rip a model in the style marzy did "enhancement" of the K43 for RO inspired by their models :P
