Map error help. Any help appreciated.

I cant solve this! All the error help tutorials mostly say something like "the texture cant be handled by old cards, you must decide to leave those people behind" or something. Doesnt say how to solve!

But even if i replace all the textures with just one, it still gives me the error on wads that arent even in use. I've tried not to resort to this but im tired of fighting it and im ready to throw up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this.

That isn't the number of textures that is your problem. It's a single texture that is to big. There is one in kami's wad ... can't remember which one, I just ignore the problem :rolleyes:

well...it wont let me run the map. It gives that error "the map has a problem which must be fixed". And it says theres too big of texture in all of the wads.

that is a warning, not an error.

the compile looks good. if your map is not running, you must have forgotten some needed entities or something.

Well, it kinda worked. It compiles ok, but the everytime i shoot, Half-life crashes. And thats about it.

Looked at the compile log, and eventhough it indicates your map compiled without error, the problem lies back at hlcsg. It indicates that out of all the wads you specified, you use only 1 texture from halflife.wad for the whole map!! This probably isn't the case :)

Hammer sometimes chokes on paths that have spaces in them, and your zhlt.wad file path contains spaces. Move zhlt.wad into your half-life\valve directory with the other wads. Start Hammer, and select tools->options->textures and edit the list for the new location. Exit Hammer.

Restart Hammer and load you map. Make a small change to the map, then save it. Hammer wont actually save the map unless you make a change to it, eventhough it looks like its saving it. Then run your compile tools.

The hl engine has a hard limit of 512x512 absolute for texture size. Read the caution from tommy's site (GREAT AREA, tommy, thanks !!) about using this size texture. Its also why a 64x1024 size texture wont work. This info is from one of the *.h file notes from the SDK source.

Thanks sparks! As a matter of fact i did only have 1 texture. Take a while to re-trace my steps, but putting more textures in there helped, (and i took out kami and xerents wad). I'd really like to thank you all for helping a noob out! All the people that posted here are Uber good at mapping btw.
