Retextured models are getting old real quick. Custom models is whats keeping me playing DoD (sad to say, I know). I'd at least like to hear a "yes we will release it eventually" or "NO! Quit asking".

I concure, I miss Devin Kryss's SSv4 and your Employee's 2nd Armored battalion too much now.

I also liked that your Employee Para pack that had American paratroopers with water floating vests, those were awesome.

Funny really. All thats different about the DoD STUDIOMDL.EXE is that it supports the transparent and additive texture flags and has been modded to allow more than the default 256 sequences.

When 1.0 came out we got the compiler really quick and whats different about the 1.1 models? Nothing - just the number of animation sequences they use because of the switch to 9 way blending.

What I find ridiculous is that now that the animations are final and the models have been released via Steam theres no logical reason to withhold the compiler. After all, the source for STUDIOMDL.EXE is in the SDK which has been out for ages so its not like its a secret and its not like its exposing and dark secrets.

Will the world come crashing down, will hell freeze over, will locusts steal Gabe Newell's lunch if the compiler is released, if Pick It Up took the EXE, put it in a zip and posted it to the forums? No...

Ok, we've had the holidays you blame stuff on that but seriously how long would it take to zip the file and post it?

I believe we are suffering from the "Management Factor" - since the leak everyones wearing tin-foil hats and everything that leaves the company needs to be discussed in 3 meetings and signed off by 9 PHB's but as its such a *tiny* thing, its at the bottom of the pile.

Result, the DoD custom modelling community has dwindled to nothing but a load of unremarkable re-skins and theft from other games.

Way to go!

Ah well, Im out. I've lost interest. I make player models and had about 3 packs in the work including the animated faces and I really wanted to see those in game.

Nice cartoon VooDooChild. I think our model compiler woes are falling on deaf ears. I was almost done w/ my G.I. Joe and Cobra model pack before the sh*t hit the fan w/ the compiler. And my Snake-Eyes model was ready to kick some @ss.:mad:
