How do you do it? I'm guessing it has something to do with the naming of the textures..? Can I just rename all the textures in my map or something?
EDIT: also, do you guys think this map looks ok with rain? http://gamefaqstuff.homestead.com/files/dod_heckeniveau_b10004.JPG

You have to edit the materials.txt in your dod folder and include it with your map release

It will have list of material types and the format to use them in the .txt

That method isn't reccomended though because you can't use more than one materials.txt and if every mapper released one it would be teh sux

Just put an invisable func_wall 1 unit thick with one of the textures from the hlbasics wad in front of your surface.

Du0 is right.

What if two custom maps had different versions of the materials.txt file? Bad news ... don't edit it.

As for the hlbasics.wad. I get the impression they are very useful for making Clip brushes for Models. That also goes for "Mugsy's test textures".

I guess the best way is the same as its always been and rename your custom texture to one of the textures in the materials.txt file.

Anyone got a better idea?

yeah I think you could rename your textures to the ones in materials.txt...just as long as wads don't conflict or anything it should work just fine.
