[anims] thompson and sten

i noticed that a bunch of the weapons in dod, especially the axis weapons, have good animations. when you draw the weapon on the mp40 or stg44, the bolt is pulled back... and after you spend a magazine, a new one is put in and the bolt it pulled back again. the thompson and sten lack these features. its not important that the bolt be pulled back when the weapon is drawn, but i think we need some animations where the bolt is jammed back when new magazines are put in. (there was a good thompson animation like this but it was pre-1.0 and i cant find it anymore)

glimsharp, if you are reading this, please give it a shot because it seems to me like youre the best at animations out of anyone else on these forums. anyone else that works in that area, please try it and see what you can come up with.

once again, i am asking for new animations for the tommy gun and the sten where the bolt is jammed back after you stick in a new clip. it would also be good if the levers were pulled back when the weapon is drawn but ill quit while im behind.

I think this has been done before, do a search maybe?

Anyways, the dev team took out those animations for the tommy in 1.0 because you dont actually pull back the hammer in real life once a mag is put in.

If the chamber is empty (i.e. you have fired all rounds), you have to pull the bolt back. Same with all (i think) submachines-guns of that era.

And the MP40 bolt should stay back.

Right now its like when you shoot, the bolt comes back and then again to the forward position. IRL, its it snaps forward and comes back and stays in the "back" position.

it sounds like to me the animations just need the bolt being pulled back once the magazine is spent... then a new mag goes in and you fire like normal.

Thats right.

You can do the following things,

1. pull the bolt back, extract the magazine, stick a new one in
2. extract the magazine, pull the bolt back, stick a new one in
3. extract the magazine, stick a new one in, pull the bolt back

Animation timing is pretty simple, since it can be done in the qc file, so that shouldn't be a problem for somebody who knows what they are doing.
