How do,

This is the 2nd gun I've tried making from scratch and at the mo is way too high poly and big to be used in DoD but if i manage to make this look any good i might try and cut is down and make a bipod version to replace the .30 cal or mabye bren (Unrealistic but what the hell).

As far as i know it is really likely to be possible to use a vick on a bipod but what the hell, respawning after being riddled by a MP40 aint possible either :p lol

here's a quick pic (http://www.dodsupply.co.uk/skawars/vickersWIP3.JPG)

Before anyone says owt i know there is alot of detail on the model that is not neccessary (rivets, mechs etc) but i jus put them on to see how they looked and will probally cut them off.

Comments/suggestions/hint etc welcome as always.

Amazing!

I would use that instead of the .30 cal, easily.

There's already a tripod .30 cal and that works just fine. See if you can get permission to use those animations from whoever made it.

I'm not too keen on the bipod idea though, maybe because I know that it'll probably extend the time I'd have to wait.
Yes, I know, I'm an impatient guy...It's just that I really want this one to get finished since we've never had a vickers in DoD before (to my knowledge). And, quite recently I gained an interest for WW1 so this gun is a must for me.

Please Ska keep up the great work and try to wrap this one up as soon as possible, not sloppy though :).

Really great work Ska.

My comments from AIM still stand Ska, FOOKIN Great work on this. Send me the mesh for this and your pistol and I'll see what I can do.

My plead for the excluding of the bipod still stands.

I know I'd rather use it with the soldier carrying around that big thing than a bipod one...

I'm picky.

It's all me, me, me with you aint it Robot!?! lol :P

Don't worry mate, I'll probally make two versions (One with mini tripod and one with bipod).

Aint had much time to work on this recently as I've jus had too much on my plate but I will get this finished ASAP. Don't be suprised if its full of bugs though cos i probally wont be able to test it too good as I've given up on trying to get STEAM running and instead I'll jus wait till 1.1 lol

Leave the tripod there and add a water-cooling-thing-a-me(™), oh god that would be brilliant to see, YOU DO NOW OR I EAT YOUR BABIES.

Oh, Good Job BTW m8!

:D

Don't kill me, the lewis gun is coming Im waiting to hear form MaRzY about this 'pack' ;) .

Yeah, It's all about me =D

As I said, you've done a great job. I just don't want to see this fade away and never get done.

Sorry if I come off pushy.

I'm only joking with you mate lol You dint come across pushy at all.

I'm British mate, you have to remember that nearly everything we say is laced with sarcasm and dark humour lol

I'll try and get this finished up as soon as I can. Gonna have to cut some bits down alot though. With all the rivets and **** on its around 14,000 polys! lmao

But without all the unneccesary details and **** it's around 1,800

Dont forget that in spoken English we can also make anything sound like a double entendré if you say it right. :D

Have you played with the Direct X tool in Milkshape? Kinda handy - if you move the slider it will deform you mesh and reduce the poly count quite a bit.

Its not perfect, you may have to do some remodelling after if you do a radical reduction but it can often simplify your geometry and save some polys.
