DoD modeling: Dead?

Is it me or do all the modellers, skinners, and modeling hosts seem to be dying? Editor 321 seems to have died, whiska's site seems to be dead, the pokemart is dead, and some others are dying too.

Revolutionary models seem to be non-exhistant now, they are mainly just someone else's model, with someone elses animations (a.k.a hackjob).

The russian pack is, heh, well hell, its hard to say it even EXHISTS, and im not saying i could do it any better, but you can see someone make a model in less than a day, and one for the russian pack takes 3+ months, i say if they just dont want to work on it, then release what they have, and let the other modellers finish it.

Its very hard for new modelers to come along and actual compete to the standard, of whats already been released..

methinks the whole submodels deal has slowed down the custom player factory. that and newer games on the way.

But I agree, there seems to be a lack of new things coming out, but there are still a handful of guys working on stuff. Ska immediately comes to mind.

I'd say modelling and the like isn't dead, or going to be dead any time soon, it's just in a lull. People are taking breaks from DoD, because of its problems. I'm sure once 1.1 comes out and fixes a lot of problems, it'll get back to normal around here.

Yeah, school has just started and im running 12 hour days so I hardly get any chances to play or work on dod. But I (and others) do still play and are still working on new projects.

Time, things just take time. :)

I have plenty in the making, but have lost some motivation, due to not playing dod 1.0 as often as i played the betas, i liked dod 3.1 better then v 1.0, and although dod v.1.0 is similar to 3.1, there not the same game, which is a shame.

I still plan to carry on with my projects though, for now at least.

Late summer is a dead time in NorthAmerica for anything computer related, sales, gaming, hardware and so on. Just look at the recent release list of blockbuster games this summer... yeah not very many are there.

Anyway. Everything slows down but then picks back up. Then xmas season hits and everything goes ballistic.

i will not die....

Im the longest standing model site there is. I REFUSE TO DIE....
Dont worry about me going anywhere.

we need to conform to our own little group of veterns, then we can get things incredible done

as the rock said modeling slows down during the late summer weeks. most people who do this sort of stuff are in the age group that has education of some sort on the inbound. such as myself. ive got an assload of animation and skinning to do, and im slogging through it at a moderate pace. i dont even really play a lot of dod these days...

but anywho, itll pick back up once everyone gets settled into the groove.

Things are slowing down at least for me because I'm growing weary of the game and the community, 1.0 has really destroyed the community. I still do plenty of modelling but I'm not publicly release the models, only people who I know (email/IRC/MSN etc) are the ones I give my models to.

lol, how true. But even back in the betas, how many of us actually played it as much as we tinkered with it? Every morning when I got off work I would sit down with a coffee and go "shopping" on MSA to see if there were any new models or skins that I could put my own personal touches on. Still my playing to editing time is about 4 x 1 for the editing.
