DOD_Zug by John "Ginger Lord" Crewe
(Beta 1)
October 1944

German Paratroopers are fiercely defending a key town on the German
border. The Allies plan to send in a platoon of men to cut the towns
resources and defences. They move in under cover of a storm....

Allied Objectives:
- Disable the King Tiger Transporter to block one end of the railway
- Sabotage a tunnel at the other end of the city, blocking that end
of the railway too.
- Destroy the German Radio Room (Marked By A Flag)

Axis Objectives:
- Defend the Town for 15 minutes so reinforcements can be brought up

Lookin good, but in some places there seems to be loads of rubble but no destruction of the building. I mean at least give it a blown roof if you have all that rubble. Plus it looks a little overscaled like kleiny said. Otherwise looks like fun! Fix the little details and then you will most definitely have something. GJ!

Thanks for the feedback so far.

I have already implemented a few minor changes (treeline changes) and added reasons for the rubble but I will leave changing anything about scale till I get feedback from the playtests.

why do axis always have to defend and allies always have to attack?

Ginger Lord

DoD is set late war period so the Allies are on the attack and Axis defending. Besides that having a Kar98k to attack with would be no fun for a defender as that little toe of yours could be sticking out that bunker and no one seems to like Axis Vs Brit maps for that reason too.

you guys are talking about major offensives like overlord and operation market garden, but it could be an axis patrol or something, anyway, in schwetz, I liked defending with a garand a lot more then a kar, and others do too, this map is far from original to be honest

I keep trying to reply but get time out errors so i will summarise what i was saying earlier

Not Original: The objectives are new and each requires a different method to complete. Should be interesting. I also have a custom ambient rain sound which quite frankly is the bees knees, has some terrific thunder in it.

Allies: I dont think it would work well at all if it was only Allies defending, they tend to rely on their SMG's which arnt the best for defensive and with an apparently "up the duff" Garand thats not good fun.

However im looking at Schwetz rotating spawns....maybe.

I have little to add to what's been said and I am no expert, but there are crates in the middle of a town. At the train station ok, but how often do you see crates on your doorstep?

Other than that, it looks real good :)

Ginger Lord

Because they moved them from the train station? Because god placed them there? Because they give you cover in the wide open streets? Because someone wanted crates on his doorstep?

The possibilities are endless....Although I did get bored of crates and I couldnt find a Grand Piano model.

this is one of the reasons it is beneficial for a mapper to know how to model. OK I'm not one to talk because I don't know how to model myself, but yeah. I think we should all get our lazy butts up and learn how to model. Modeling rules.
