New Animations?

I was wondering if it is possible just to make new animations. Like new die animations. that would be pretty awsome o see some new ways people can die...thakns for your time

I've thought about doing something like this but I havent animated any player models yet, only weapons. So I don't know if its harder or if I could get it to look good or what. Its something I'm thinking about though.

but back in my younger Day's i used to go to The Rezerection....huge hardcore Rave Party held in a Massive Hanger, and the grounds of Edinburgh airport...and that was my Favourite tune....6 million ways to die..choose one..boom, boom, boom, 6 million ways to die, choose one, boom , boom, boom,

Its a bug in 1.0. Waldo has already admitted it and its meant to be fixed for 1.1.

Repeat.

I just finshed a headshot animation, it looks pretty good, if I can say so myself. I guess I'll try to do as many animations as I can or can stand. I'll upload when I'm done.

i was just going to post something like this...



my input: blinking eyes and some more random animations like adjusting ammo pouches or cleaning gun, but blinking eyes is a must i say. This has no relation to the nick btw ;/

The thing wouldnt give me a confirmation message so I didnt think it went through...... I tried 6 times and it never gave me a confirmation just errors. I gave up thinking it never sent.... AGAIN: SORRY!

I believe the man's question has not been thoroughly answered. I too would like some incite on this possibility. Currently I am trying to figure out how to animate most if not all the player animations from scratch. I, like others I am sure, wish to see the player models trully come to life with more believable death/walk/sprint/crouch animations ala America's Army. Once I get the animating factors as second nature I'll then find out how I could reanimate all the player animations and convert/save them over into DoD. I'll keep you posted in my progress over time.

Impossible for blinking eyes. There needs to be eye sockets and such, but the current models have the eyes modeled on the head model, they're not seperate.

I think this may interest you more so than a simple head shot animation.

I'm Con Artist by the way. I'm attempting something few dared, keep looking at the first post as it will keep getting updated. Lets say it's my journal for the next generations of animators alike.

Mainly because it hasn't been attempted. There are few of us. It just took a while for some of us to get used to learning things the hard way since Valve didnt go into detail in customizations.

Jed, that looks awesome, how many frames you got that face anim looped for?

Its just the length of a single shot. The shoot anim has the eye looking down the sight and the eye closed, the aim anim doesnt. The way Half-Life blends animations he'll close his eye as you start to fire and hold it closed until you release the trigger.

Heh.

Well heres the deal.

I added facial animations to almost ALL of the original 1.0 movement anims but I hit the limit with the compiler. I know Studiomdl has limits for things such as total bone movements per MDL so I assume I just hit one of those.

Anyway, the plan was to remove all of the anims for US weapons by setting them to 1 frame only - logic being is on a British map you'd never use an American weapon.

Well, 1.1 came out and the 9 way blending system and that meant I couldnt use the animations I'd done before and as PickItUp was fiddling with getting the animations right there was no point in me re-animating them all again until I knew they were final.

No we know their final, Im waiting for the compiler so I can check they work and/or the source so I can rig my own Studiomdl to handle the extra bone movements.

Incidently these face anims wont cause lag or anything like that, just a little more memory to be used because of the larger number of bone movements in the MDL.
