Some questions

Ive been thinking of venturing over from counter strike mapping, and I basically know basically everything there is to know about hammer (worldcraft) for countestrike. Give me a layout and I can do it thats .

But now im focusing on actually completing a very good map and making it aesthetically pleasing and I need some help with you vetran dod mappers.

1. For the most part, your custom mapping community shells out some AMAZING looking maps. Where do you guys get your textures from. Itsnt it hard to derive and war-torn ww2 building texes out of photos? Or if you dont how do you get those default textures so sharp and nice looking without giving the game a heart attack.

2. Foliage, trees etc. This is the one thing I have not mastered in Worldcraft. I noticed some tree models and tank models, and I desperatley need to know how to put models in, if its using a dod_object entity then why whenever I put a dod_object the game never loads properly? No compiling errors either.

If you guys have any input or any places I can get textures (and IF you tell me to read stick than thanks a million because wadfather makes PHENOMENAL textures).

Thanks a million if you can help

1. in your dod folder there are enough textures from the basic maps, there are some great textures in absolut vodka's texture pack, xerent texture pack, kleineh classic etc, there are a lot of great texture packs :)

2. use the entity env_model, if you want submodels like for example submodel2 you need to add in the "body" value: 1 (instead of 0), if you want submodel3 you need to add in the "body" value: 2 etc

Is that suposed to be an insult? I thought we where more mature here ...

When it comes to gameplay most dod mappers have alot to learn from the cs mappers. What dod mappers are really good at are the visual looks of stuff and perhaps not the boxing that almost all cs mappers love. So look around at the textures mentioned learn how to use the new features in dod 1.0 that cs doesnt have yet... they are great.

And think twice before adding a box to a map. ;)

I think the reason there are more dod custom maps and better quality then cs custom maps is because it is much more fun to map for dod, i may be wrong.

for textures, there are some very good textures from the dod levels u can find, they are in ur dod folder and are called mapname.wad, also wadfather as uve said is very good, and there are a few texture packs ppl have released, or u could learn how to make proper textures, or find a good texture artist.

plan ur maps b4 u make them, and think things thru.
