Unless it's for HL2, it's the map people will be talking about for 70 days to come;)

Yeah that's the thing that's worrying me, by the time I get my maps done for DoD, then HL2 will be out and who knows how soon after DoD will get ported over. So I'm wondering whether or not it's a good idea.

Hopefully it should be able to import .map/ .rmx files.

But we all know what's going to happen, it'll look like crap compared to new, DoD2 work. You might as well just release it for DoD, then use references and remake it with the new features in both Source and DoD2.

You can switch maps over, however I think ppl are gonna continue playing dod. Hl2 might have some fun single player, but hl isn't an online game itself. It's the mods for it that ppl play, and it'll be awhile before a good teamplay mod is released.

Well, if TF2 turns out to be HL2 MP, then what you said is now defunct.

So we'll prolly have 4-6 months after HL2 is out before DoD is ported. Unless they decide to redo most of the art, in which case, it'll prolly be closer to a year or more.

I've read that they already have the sdk, and see no reason for them not to. They are part of valve, after all. I'd venture to guess that the reason that 1.1 is taking so long is that they're efforts are split between that and DoD2. I'd wager that DoD2 comes out by the end of the year.

Back to the topic, that's a very promising picture, it's just too bad so few people play custom maps in DoD.

IMHO I'm glad they are releasing dod 1.1 bfr they get to wrok on dod 2.0. I can spend lots of time playing with the new engine learning how it works bfr I sit down and port my maps.

Not to turn this into a speculation thread, ok just did, but I would have to suggest that DoD2 will be out 3-6 months after HL2 at the latest. Chances are the DoD teams been working on that for a long time while still trying to get 1.0 out. Would make sense if you think about how long they delayed 1.0 and all. Anyhow, map looks nice. I'm curious to see the final project.

Custom maps are where it's at. I don't get how people can play the same map for years on end. Talk about boring. =)

Supposedly they aren't working on dod2, rather, something else valve had them working on.

Meh, I don't beleive it. Waldo already spilled the beans.

Should be complete today...available as soon as I can get it "out".

I'm just trying to impliment my patented, M.O.O. 2000 AntiSpawn technology into the map.

Damn...did I type that out loud?

:D

At the very least this map will make people smile.

I'm trying to implement a new gameplay tyle, but its a son of a $@%#@ trying to do ti the way DOD has the entitys set up.

LOL, I d/l this while it was on houston dod for a short time late one night. dod_chickenrun...

I thought it might be fun with only knives and pistols available. Nice custom sounds too. I guess I never ran into cow. HAHAHA

07-25-2003, 12:09 PM
You're right, I chose my words incorrectly, it will have fun singleplayer.

^And DOD 2, CS 2, and TF 2 (will TF 2 be realistic?).

Heya Yabanjin,

The final version available very soon.

Mainly numbers improvements.

Glad you enjoyed what you saw. The cow is my patented MOO2000 Antispawn Technology! ......ya, I know it's goofy but if you squint yer eyes...it sounds real cool. :)

from a viewpoint of valve, it would be a mistake not to give dod the sdk, because now they are making a profit from dod (and plan to in the future i think.) so the earlier the work gets started the better it will be.
