Hiya all!
Im now releaseing Dayofdays beta 3 to the public.
Im going away on vacation shortly and will be gone for a while so I thought it might be a good time releasing before.

I need help finding any bugs so if you find any please post it here on this board.

Wow! Great work! Just darken the grass texture,

The 2d trees you've used on the skyline need less contrast + darkening too. Just fix that and its a beaut.

Welcome to sniper-land. I haven't seen any BoB-episode (please slap me), so I have no idea how accurate this map is compared to BoB. I'll try to find BoB on DVD or VHS, so you do not have to make fun of me :p

i love BoB! iv got the DVD box set!

dats the main reason i downloaded dis map.
it isnt as accurate to the BoB as wot i fort it wud be. but its close enuf.:)

a map is a map and its the fort dat counts:p

i like the parra bloke in the tree dats cool.
dis map is everythig a map should be.
its pritty. (unlike mine, if any of u av seen it u no wot i mean:p but hey im 16! i dont care.)

while im here is there any way to rotate a texture?
coz i like how u can do the road like dat n i never can:p

i wud like to waypoint the map for you if dats ok?

Yeah, i dont recognize any of the pics except for the middle one. Looks fun and looks pretty good. I'll just have to try it out.

awesome map! Here are some bugs I found:

in the intro for the map, it says "caption" instead of "capture" for the allies
The soldier with the .30 guarding the allies spawn is using a .30 cal but the transperencies are wrong (meaning you can see blue in the barrel holes)
Allies can go into Axis spawn wthout getting killed. It slowly takes away life when theyre on the grass in it. But when they jump on the concrete, they are not harmed and can spawn camp

great map nonetheless!

iv done the waypoints! :D

there is some thing that i found annoying. i dont know if its an error or just the map being awkward.

its at the big plane that crashed, if u follow the left wing from the top of the plane to the floor and carry on walkin a little way accross the grass u will hit some thing that u cant see.

i think your waypoints have issues. I downloaded them and it said dod_d-day_invb or something. So I had to rename 'em to dod_dayofdays_b3. And even then: I'm under the impression that they don't work quite correctly: 14 bots, 10 of 'em get stuck against the walls.

Am I downloading the wrong waypoints or do someting wrong?

Hi,

Man do I luuuuuuuuuuv this map!

I also made some waypoints for it. Tried to let the bots use as much human like ways across the map. Let me know if you like ‘em.

There are some invisible walls in this map:
Near a pole of the allied HQ. The right one if u look at the HQ and are standing on the road.
Next to the telephone pole, near the car at the of the road.

Could you also make it easier to get out of the trenches? You need to crouch-jump to get out of them. The bots SUCK at crouch-jumping…

Answering your question Brigand, Currently to my knowledge Kustom Kettle and 415 clan website plays days of days, so does OWP website i think u can find them on gamespy by filtering the names i gave u.

iv been going through the way points all weekend and iv just realised that i put the wrong waypoints in the zip:D

PLEASE download the waypoints agen.
iv tried the waypoints that were made by 'stinky nine' and they are good waypoints but the allies dont call for air strikes n mine do, also they get stuck in one or two places. altho i must admit the bots dont go there often

I LOVE THIS MAP! only..it's really hard for the allies. In band of brothers the allies were the only one's doing the attacking. I can barely get to the 88's. I think it should be like glider, the germans are defending. And i HATE how if i get lucky and i wipe out most of the germans and finally get to the guns, and their spawn place is right beside them! AND POW! 13 guys pop out and kill me.:( But it's a really great map...:D :D :D :D if only i can get to those guns.

Now that u mention it, not that this is a bad map i love it but most of the germans were by the mortar side, so i personally think the axis spawn should be at mortar side. The allies were able to go in the trenches and basically take it and fire on the trenches at the mortar side. Remember in the movie where someone said, " heh we must be doing something right, we got the krauts firing on themselves" or something along those lines. Point is maybe on a next version the kraut spawn could be behind the mortar trench, that way if allies ever get into aa gun trench then they don't have to die so they can come back with more tnt, they can remain in the trench and fire on other trench line ( mortar trench) and wait for backup.

Um its late so my messeage might sound a bit confusing hope someone can figure it out and understand what i said.

Love this map! It gets voted alot on my reg server but i did have a small problem the other day.

Playing as allies i'd picked up some tnt, as you do.
After a few deaths i realised i still had the tnt and for the rest of the game i spawned with tnt already.

I asked the rest of the players and on-one else had this. Its only happened once but just thought i should let you know.

Are you thinking of making more BoB based maps, maybe you could make Carentan 1 and Carentan 2(at the town and field respectively).

cool, since in the movie it never where showed any more of the axis base you can make anything behind the trench line. It would be more realistic and at least give the allies a better chance at securing the trenches.

Im still on vacation but Ill try to start on the next version sometimes next week.

First thanks for all the kind words of the map. Its always much more fun to spend 40 hours + on something when people actually enjoy it. :D

The invisible walls are a pain in the *** and Im not sure if I can do anything else then altering the ground and maybe mask them with some model.

When it comes to the trenches and jump croushing I dont think Ill change it just because the bots can't do it good, thats like altering a road because the fenders of a certain car type dont handle the road good... and if I did they wouldnt provide much cover....

Ill consider the func_wall and camo net thingy...

Moving the german spawn to the mortar side of the trenches would perhaps be an improvement but there arent enough space to place it there. When it comes to holding the trench area as an allied player, its much easier to hold the mortar trench instead. And why should you in the first place? It only takes 3 guys with TNT to winn it all ... just coordinate and do it all at once...

I think the respawning with TNT might be a server error, it might not have flushed the entities like it should.

When it comes to the realism of this map, its only based upon the episode 2, not a realisation of it. For example how fun would the map be if the allies owned the germans like in the series?I had to cut a few corners to make the game flow better and dont have to many bottle necks. I also wanted to make a more open area map with big spaces but I tried to add the places showed in the series.. but please do continue to discuss it, just dont expect me to change it all if some detail don't seem right.

I will probebly not make another BoB map, since alot of people have already taken most parts, but I MIGHT have another project coming up soon ...

Some questions:

#1 Do the mortars fire too quickly? Do they do to much damage?

#2 Is the allied artillery fire support good enough?

#3 Is the map even gameplay wise? If not what can be done to improve it? Unfair maps are hardly played much after the first hype is over ... since they arent much fun!
Note: Its map and the allies arent supposed to win all the time :P

err....how come the german's mortar's can hit almost everywhere and the allie's mortar's/artillery only hit in one place? Using the allied mortar's usually resulted in 7 tk's at once or no kills at all....I still don't like the idea that the german's are attacking as well....Oh, and is it possible to make the explosion of the 88's smaller? I usually blow myself up....And also, er.... they weren't 88's, remember at the end of the episode, winter's says to col. strayer that they weren't 88's, they were 109's or sumtin like that. I was bored and wanted to post useless things so, here yu go.

Kehldon, the messages you display to the players... MOVE THEM. :) They appear right in your crosshairs and its very annoying.

We are playing your map on our server and so far this is the biggest complaint. :)

The germans mortar can hit 3 diffrent places, I think they currently fire to fast or do to much damage, even though noone has complained about it.

The allies dont have any mortar at all, but can call in support fire hitting the far end of the road. I added that to counter the superior german sniping position. If you get a lot of teamkills from using it, then you playing with alot stupid ppl who cant read... and stupid ppl tend to die in wars.

If the germans wouldnt have a mission to carry out, they would be very borring to play?

In the BoB, the artillery were 105 mm, but since there are no 105 models atm and I dont have the time/skill to make any, I used 88s instead. Now considering that the 88s dont have any spiked version, but a destroyed version I used a little bit larger explosion. You are also carrying satchel charges to it and they are a really big explosives, so I think you have to learn to move away a bit since Im not going to change if you dont provide any good 105 models.
