[REL] 327th Glider Infantry Regiment (Another hack on Russ' fine models)

First off for those of you who do not know, the 327th was part of the 101st Airborne. These are Russ. Conscript's us-para models (yet again... are there any others worth using?? ;) ) and some of Nixon's textures. I did them for myself really so just thought I'd share in case anyone want's 'em.

The minor hackjobs I have done are to make the helmets 327th GIR HQ Batallion (Clubs emblem, dash at top) rather then the usaual 506th PIR 2d Batallion (Spade emblem, dash at bottom). Seems to me that every 101st I have ever seen for any game has been 506th and I felt I needed a change. Seeing as we never jump, but do have gliders in some maps I though that a GIR would be a nice touch. The NCO bar has been tweaked so it does not 'bananna', it looks a little rounded in screen, but looks good in game.

Also the sleeve textures near the shoulder have been tweaked so that there is less contrast where the textures join (still not perfect but better).

Otherwise everything else you see is a product of the hard work and talent of Russ. Conscript & Nixon.

Big thanks to Russ and Nixon for their work!

Permission was obtained for this material. The three sets that have been combined with my hacks all have their original READMEs included in the revised README file in the zip.

It could be done on Russ's models for regualr play. Just take these textures and import them with HLMV, should work fine.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Thanks Ska, and yes I do. Actually got trapped into it by two factors I could not control..... was given an old Soccer game many many years ago, picked the first team listed alphabetically. Within 4 months I was looking up results, buying team kit and panicking about results, was sick.

And yes, I blame Bish for the man lovin goin on here too :D

I wasn't sure if you were or not, seeing as your a Canadian i dint think you'd be all that interested in an English team. It wasn't until I noticed the cannon on your sig the other day I started to wonder if you were lol

Anyway, keep up the good work mate.

Glider troops for the most part dressed and used the same gear as the regular infantry. For example in Normandy unlike the PIR's (Parachute Infantry Regiments) who wore M42's and jump boots, the GIR's wore M41 Field jackets or Winter Combat Jackets ("Tanker" jackets), wool shirts and trousers, low boots and leggings. For a pack they used mainly the infantry's M1928 haversack.

From Market Garden onwards you'd see mainly the M43 uniform and double-buckle boots.
